    I was on vacation for a week. Now I'm back on the project.

    BMR torque arm is in and exhaust all wrapped up to the y-pipe.

    Prepping Katech valve covers and laid down a base coat of white.

    Headers in. Coil brackets off awaiting Katech valve covers. Painted intake cover is on and the photo is in black and white to disguise the color.

    Working on air intake system couplers. Fluids are in. Cranks. Has oil pressure. Electrical checks passed. Almost ready to fire.

    Yes, they are Hawk's Third Gen LS swap headers.

    These are the budget ones, but I was very happy with the quality. I have also seen the Hawks regular headers which are made by Stainless works and I can't tell much of a difference. Bruce Hawkins told me the only real difference was their supplier of the budget version wanted their business more and priced it more aggressively. This is very low volume private label manufacturing and I can see how Stainless Works can probably not see it as a priority.

    I spoke to Bruce about the header fitment and I understand his mentality. Trying to put longtube headers on a third gen that originally had a y-pipe that crosses over to the right is no easy task. Bruce wanted to make the headers as tight to the car as possible, because a lot of these cars are lowered and don't need pipes hanging down. It's 10lbs of shit in a 5lbs bag with these cars, especially on the left side. You have fuel/brake lines, the shift selector lever/cable/bracket, and in my case the range selector switch. I just don't understand the O2 sensor placement. Clearly it was done for a T56. The right side hits the trans servo. Bruce said they sometimes use a shorter O2 sensor to make this easier, but I already have GM O2 sensors and frankly I don't know what short sensors he's talking about or if they will even work with my PCM. Luckily I have the ability to weld in O2 bungs in the horizontal position at work.

    I really dont understand why its so hard to test fit headers before putting them on the market. Half of whats out there for LT1s also have disastrous fit. Lets just put a primary where the steering shaft is, that'll be fine!

    Hawks headers back from coating. O2 sensors crash into the trans so I guess I'll be welding new O2 bungs into freshly coated headers.

    Modified shift selector arm. I drilled out the ball stud on the bottom and bolted in the ball stud from the 700R4 to accept the 3rd gen shift cable.

    Installed the PCM in the OEM location. Tied up right side dash wiring

    I didn't like the way I did the fitting into the radiator for the steam vent. I changed it to a 90 degree fitting so the hose is going in the correct direction.

    I'm aware that it could really choke the engine, but a OEM look is more important to me than power right now. I want it to look like GM built the car for SEMA in 1991, but for using today's technology. In the future I could always build something else.

    It's a staggering amount of work and parts to get this thing going. I'm waiting on the headers back from the coater. I have a few more cooling system changes to make and I had a power steering pressure hose made by Fluid Systems. One more trans thing to finish up. I still need an exhaust system and a BMR torque arm. I'm working on getting the front end together so I can install the TPI snorkel and figure out what kind of couplers I need for the air intake system.

    I make little L brackets from alum stock . Big hole for the bellhousing bolts and two little holes on the other side to run a tie thru to hold the wires
