I'm not sure how fast this is going to go. I'm split on buying parts for this or just taking it slow and buying Direzzas for the M3 so I can just mop up the whole field on PAX.

Does anyone know if there is a specification for a factory engine rebuild? I'm looking for the allowable limit to what the dealer could hone the bore or mill the heads to. This doesn't mean what the engine can actually take, but what GM specifies as a standard rebuild. If there are no specs then I'll go with the max allowable per SCCA rules.
Finally got the old shell out but it's still a mess. Spring cleaning is going to suck.

It will be interesting to read the replies to this. I didn't know they offered any such guidance. As a machining process, you do what it takes, up to acceptable limits (max). Most dealers would send it to a machine shop, and let them determine what was needed. And that only in rare cases. 15.10R. Cylinders may be rebored to no more than 0.0472” (1.12 mm) overstandard bore and the appropriate standard oversize piston may be
substituted. This overbore dimension is an absolute limit; no additional tolerance is permitted to accommodate wear. Cast or forged, non-standard pistons of the same dimensions and configuration as original equipment pistons may be used. Additionally the replacement pistons must be of the same weight or greater as the original equipment pistons. Replacement pistons must match OE piston configuration exactly including quench area. The allowance for the use of aftermarket forgings vs. OE castings does not permit alternate piston dome designs. This allowance does not permit alternative ring configurations.
15.10V. The engine cylinder head(s) may be milled only to that amount specified in the manufacturer’s workshop manual. If no amount is specified then a maximum of 0.010” (0.254 mm) may be milled.

At the national level they will, especially someone who is running for the first time. Someone would have to make an official protest and put up their own money for the inspection. If everything checks out, they also have to pay to have the car put back together. I just happened to hop on FRRAX today in time to see a post that Unbalanced Engineering will be discontinuing their decoupled torque arm. It sounds like they have only sold ~60 of them since 2002 and being that they are built to order it just doesn't make sense to carry it any more. I was hoping to wait until next winter to buy one but it looks like I will have to get in on the last batch this winter.
