I had a similar case this year. After I got gas the car wouldn't start. Banged on the trap door area and it fired up. Did this about 3-4 times and then it was done one day. Would not start. I figured it was a bad pump (500 mile Walbro 400). Turns out the factory wiring didn't like 20 amps. On the bottom side of the fuel pump assembly I pulled the connector off and the power terminal was melted.

Not sure if others seen but we lost our baby at 19 weeks...need to do something to occupy my time. Thankfully(?) my car always has some kind of issue so I was hoping I can get all the creative genius on this forum to shoot me ideas.
I have been able to reproduce the problem by doing nothing. Currently the car is sitting on jack stands and will randomly start, then randomly die. I have taken bumps/ rough roads out of the equation so its either temp related, vibration, or just bad parts.
I have a racetronix fuel pump and hotwire kit. I have confirmed power is getting to the back at all times as its directly hooked to the battery. I have confirmed the car dies from lack of fuel pressure, after it dies the pump will not turn on. Its always been very noisy so its obvious if its going to fire up or not. If there is the hum from the fuel pump it starts 100% of the time.
Since I believe I have taken power out of the equation that leaves me with ground or some kind of signal from the cars computer system telling it to turn on/or not. Anyone know of any other testing I can do? I hate to just blindly replace the fuel system again as this is very expensive but thats what I may have to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My cousin had a similar problem to you with his LT1, it turned out to be a faulty ground near the battery. The only difference here is that his car would stay running.
Scan it for codes too. It doesn't always throw a light on when a fault comes on. Electricals are not my forte.
A couple weeks ago I had to replace the fuel pump/sending unit on my firebird. I was able to find a complete unit for $64 shipped and I haven't had any problems with it so far. It even has a 10 year warranty on it (supposedly).
not sure if you're a fan of using cheap parts though

I remember when i did my racetronix kit. It came with dielectric grease for the ground back by the factory fuel pump floor plug....and if i remember it had a note that said failure to use the grease has led to grounding issues do to corrosion. Just a thought...

If you wanted to rule out the pcm, maybe disconnect the wire that triggers the relay from the pcm and hook it up directly to power or ground (not sure which it uses) and put a toggle switch to turn the pump on and off manually.

I believe the 1998 LS cars use a one year system..sucks. Looks like AC Delco is $369 but I trust that more than amazon. Typically though, I trust cheap parts in most cases. Fuel pump is one where id rather have the good stuff...not that its helped me so far with my racetronix kit
