Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Correct - you'll minimize leaks with the first style. Just make sure you have them positioned how you want as you tighten them. They're kind of a one-shot deal to get right. The seam should be halfway through the band which I think is what you did.
Hmm not sure about that connection. They're not exactly "structural". Now might be a good time to have some 3-bolt flanges welded on and gasket between them. The downside is they'd have to do it in car so everything would be aligned properly.
3 bolt flanges will make it easier to remove/reinstall from the headers because the exhaust will literally fall straight down instead of having to slide the whole system backwards to slide off of the headers, but they always seemed to leak for me if I ever re-use the gasket. A muffler shop could expand the openings of your Y-pipe to make a proper slip-fit either inside the header tube or outside of it, then you could use those band clamps.
That being said, I have used them to butt up two pipes before when I had to cut a 4" I-pipe to remove an exhaust. It worked fine but YMMV.
Send me your stock turn signals I'll tint them for you.

Got the exhaust on today. Sadly I don't have pictures for you just yet.
Cut the old one off, we are guessing that the non mandrel bend over the axel has an ID of around 2 inches.
Next problem, I need new headers. Previous owner had a clamp on system, then welded both sides of the clamp. We cut out but there isn't enough material left to do a clean install of headers/ y pipe. Glad I did this now instead of waiting.
Everything on the exhaust fit very well with one issue, the tips are the wrong size for the tail pipes. Could use an adapter but thats BS so I emailed the seller.
