They were both IROC hoods. The original blue one was damaged in the accident. The replacement red one was propped up and the corners were submerged in water for over 5 years. The engine in the 85 Iroc would only run off of starting fluid. I checked fuel pressure, then confirmed the harness was supplying power to the pump. I then began the process of removing the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump. Upon removing the tank I relized I am going to need more than a fuel pump. The smell of the old gas gave me a headache and I was surprised the tank didn't leak with the amount of rot inside the tank. It was very clear why I wasnt getting and fuel pressure. The tank and sending unit are junk. The good news I can use the tank and sending unit the from 1992 RS (with a higher pressure fuel pump)photo (17).JPGphoto (18).JPGphoto (19).JPGphoto (20).JPG

As you can see in the picture above the sending unit no longer does its job reading the fuel level.
This assembly with a TPI pump will do the job!
