Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
Are you going to fab up something for the hood to seal up to? If this is the case, I'd make that area ~36" wide and ~18" deep (like a chevron) and only slightly recess it.
I am not familiar with the chevron design. My first idea was to cut out the stock louver design and flip it around, but since that idea has been canned I can shorten the slope from 28" to 15" or so. I will tac the hood skin around 15" and see how it looks
Look at the C7 hood heat extractor, that is exatly what I was thinking. I was sketching hoods earlier tonight and I thought "I've seen this before...."
Chevron (or cheveron) is a v shaped insignia. Actually, it's supposed to an inverted v - so ^ is technically correct. Often used to designate rank.
The design of the hood will have to wait till tomorrow.
Darren found a good deal I couldn't pass up. I purchased a functioning T5 transmission, bellhousing, shifter, slave/master, new flywheel, and L88(worth $200)flywheel for $250.
Unfortunately these flywheels will not bolt up to a 1pc rear main. My options are
-buy flywheel
-install 350 and take advantage of lightweight L88 flwheel.

A big Thanks to @Darren for giving me a hand and some motivation to make some progress on the this project.
Since the last update the transmission, exhaust manifolds, and rear axle have been removed.
I recently picked up a 4th gen rear end so I would benefit from a higher numerical axle ratio and disc brakes.
The pictures below are of the 4th gen rear end installed with 17" c5 Z06 wheels. I was hoping the wheels wouldn't stick out so much but there is not alot of room for 9.5" wheels. I might have to roll the 1/4's some more. photo (1).JPGphoto (2).JPG

the fenders are rolled, Brian just didnt like how much tire you can see from behind the car. But they do fit within the wells nicely. Its just a different look. My car looks very similar when I have the 275's in the back. I think it looks great and it'll grow on Brian!
I think that looks perfect! Roll those fenders! Are you worried about the body on this or something?
Like Darren said, The rear 1/4s have been rolled but I might modify them more because the axle moves side to side when under a load.
I removed the huge spring isolator and it still sits too high. Once I get the ride height where I want, I will have to invest in an adjustable panhard bar to center the axle.
But no I am not worried about the body, my hammer has been very usefull tool in this project

if my 12" wide C6 Z06 wheels fit with out a problem, you shouldnt have any either and they look great, is the car staying blue or you changing it ?
Thanks Greg. I would like to see pictures of a 12" wheel under a 3rd gen. With a 275/40R17, the tire is contacting the inner wheel well in the front. I am sure I can modify that area, but with a 12" wheel it would have to stick out more.
Early on my idea was to paint the stock wheels yellow and paint the car sunoco blue as a tribute to the 1st gens
My current dilema is if I will have time to follow through with the hardtop conversion this year... I sitll have the idea to paint it silver with a matte clear.
Glad to see some progress. I think those wheels look great on Third Gens. Are you still tearing more stuff out of the car? Whats next?
Thanks Brian,
Yes... hopefully some parts will start to go back on soon! I have someone interesting in buying the engine so there is a chance that might come out next week.
