        • 100lbs worth of wieght saving hmm no manual steering, jeep shaft, manual brakes. the alt can be moved downward by where the smog pump is using a cutlass alternator or something. shave some aluminum off that throttle body, cut that air cleaner to pieces and make it smaller, aluminum intake, aluminum heads, headers, removed heater box underdahs, remove cowling, move battery to back and cut out battery trays.

          • Hmmm...to part with my warmed up Edelbrock 60859's in favor of some AFR 195's??

I should probably get it finished and drive it a couple of months before I do that...

lol it was just a joke aimed at the french fries under the seat. Back in my day installing car audio / alarms / remote starts, we called them stow- and - go french fries.

If you're really looking to shave some weight, lose the back hatch and glass. I know a guy who has a rear targa hatch for sale. He used to have it on his 3rd gen camaro back in the 90's and it's been sitting in his garage rafters since. It's black and from what I'm told is in pristine shape. I haven't seen it, but he's been trying to sell it to me since i bought the iroc.

                Good thoughts Tyler!
-The s-10 gear box is 7 turns lock to lock aka I would be sweating after turn three from shuffling the wheel! No Thanks
-Jeep steering shaft is in the works
-If you relocated the alternator to the AIR pump location what will prop up the belt so the belt doesn't contact the water pump pulley. Do you have any for information on this conversion?
                - I want to keep heat so I have defrost
                - Manual brakes..... haven't considered it

Or you could just let me borrow them until I crash

ha ha, I forgot about that picture.
Yes the rear hatch is very heavy! I would like have a hatch that weighs less but if it is the hatch I am thinking of.... I think they are ugly. I would rather not wear a bag on my head when I drive it.

are you thinking about replacing the glass with lexan?

I was thinking of the notch back style assembly. I did some further investigating, are you referring to rear assembly that would have a triangle window in the sail panel? similar to a Fiero GT.

Most people said the notch back weigh close to what the rear window assembly weighs and they sell for between $5-900!

But to reply to your comment. Functionality over form, I know you were joking but if that was the case I should have bought a miata. I would like to have a lexan window in back but at time I more concerned with removing weight from the front. Depending on what this car becomes it might be an upgrade in the years to come.

                    • GM Steering shaft not Jeep Shaft

Also he meant replacing the glass in the rear with a lexan type. The difference would be like your two sets of T-Tops one is glass the other is lexan and they are much lighter! This would entail you removing the glass and having a piece of laxan cut to fit in its place.

EDIT, I am slow and tired and a idiot and didnt read the bottom of your post, ignore 50% of my post above!

                          • What Darren said. Vfnfiberglass.com has a lot of great replacement body panels at a reasonable price.

This is like what the notchback hatch looks like. I'm not exactly sure what it weighs but I'd assume it would be lighter than the oem glass hatch. http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/pr...ack-Hatch.html
