Going with johnson rods too?Originally posted by OVRKILL View PostPicking up new lifters tomorrow
Going to require new pushrods too
So....having a lifter issue on this car requires the following:
1. New lifters....cool race car shit, built here in good 'ol Michigan by Specialty Engine Components aka Johnson Lifters.
2. New pushrods
3. Wire harness adjustments cuz I should have earlier.
4. Intake modifications - added "balancing logs" that an IAC can use to reference
5. Adding some cool newly machined brackets only seen when the hood pops...sorry Sean, you probably cant appreciate it
6. Valve cover appearance mod - not sure if it will get done before PT, but am going to try like hell. @Darren and bigjon88. Might need some powder work
Of course, most of the above was because I can't leave shit alone

More maching work....
Had to have the intake drilled out in a few places to accept these fuel rail size "logs" to help balance the runners and improve idle. Had to be fixtured and drilled the casting clear through the runner
....machine dude was sweatin a little bit
Small o-ringed brass fittings make the connection between log and runners. An IAC will/can be tied to them later...
Better pics later...

Quoting the "to-do" list for another pointless update
1. Lifters in.
2. Pushrods here tomorrow.
3. Wire harness was put on a diet....lost lots of spaghetti and sooo much cleaner.
4. Intake done.
5. New brackets will need to be anodized. Not sure how this is going to happen in two weeks, but looking local to see if it can be done in time.
6. Valve covers are headed out this afternoon. Bye-bye VSpeed! Also decided to add a -12 line to each to a puke can for adequate crankcase ventilation. Will be a pretty stealth set-up and glad to lose the pass side breather.
7. NEW addition - IAC. Cant believe this wasnt part of the intake when I bought it...though I asked...never happened. Did I already say bye-bye VSpeed
Hoping this thing gets running early next week and tuned up before we hit the trailer on the 29th. Lol, my biggest concern is there will be minimal paint damage once the blankets and towels are removed. My priorities are a little goofed up
Of course, if I dont hit the trailer on time, there's always that other event in Milford

Brent, try McNichols Anodizing in Redford. We use them for our products at work and they do a good job. Not positive on timeline, but worth a try.
