Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
damn loudest racecar I have heard in a while, glad its finally running though and seems to idle smooth.
Thanks Jeff....it is loud. Thought (hoped) the cats would take it down a notch or two. Nope. Does idle much nicer with an IAC, synced TB's, stable valve train, new O2s, etc, etc....just needs a tune.
sounds good tho.. glad to hear its back running again
Dirty isnt the word. F'n gross is a better. Cant wait to get it home (assuming it doesnt puke on the rollers) so I can get back on stands for a little TLC....lots to do before next spring.

The fight continues but progress is being made. At idle the A/F is within a tenth or two between banks, tbodies are near perfectly balanced in terms of incoming air and the IAC values are near stock. The problem is that theyre fighting a slight synchro issue between intake halves.....in other words, one set opens just a liiiittle bit more/quicker than the other which is playing havoc for A/F off idle. WOT can be done in a couple hours....it's the finite shit theyre fighting now. Throttle response is beyond anything these guys have seen.....progressive linkage may be in order.

This isn't a one-off part, right? I mean, Kinsler developed this intake and sells it retail? Shouldn't they have all this shit figured out first?
Yes and no. I'm learning more and more about this system and understand why it cost so much and realizing the tuning nightmares are all true. Though they nominally "set it up" when it leaves their shop, the manifold still needs to be tuned to the engine it resides on. The blade timing between banks would be something that should never change and very well could have been altered when it was torn apart. Fortunately it's a just a mechanical system and with trial and error, a little deductive reasoning, it'll get figured out. The real frustrating part is that we're talking hundredths or thousandths of inches. Once it's set though....done....so they say

Intake "tuning" is done. They made a few part throttle pulls to confirm. 90 min on the dyno, never got over 195 (no fans were used), idles smooth as silk, they threw 10 more gallons in it , time to make real pulls.
See if we can get past that part throttle 350 @ 3300 torque number tomorrow
