            • We used a flat board on my jack and put the trans on the board.

              • Mine was pretty stable on the jack.

By flat board do you mean like a sheet of ply wood or a 2x4 though?

                • So I got the clutch in, bell housing in but with the joys of not having instructions and never putting an aftermarket bell housing on apparently it all has to come back off.

                  Joy joy joy.

                  • Out of curiosity, why does it have to come back off?

The instructions for the McLeod were there but left a lot to be desired because they weren't specific to the LT1 bellhousing.

                    • The starter did not fit so I am going to grind the opening.
But apparently you need to measure the run out to make sure the bell housing is in line with the crankshaft other wise it could cause transmission damage.
Guess you are suppose to do it with any new bell housing.

                      The Quicktime had no instructions.

                        EDIT:

The bathroom scale says 20lbs for the arm and 10lbs for the mount. So 30lbs total.

UMI says on their setups its about a 3 - 4lbs difference plus stronger.
Mine came out to 32.85lbs FWIW

Thats fully assembled also. Only bolts it didn't have are the ones that bolt it to the car(4 crossmember and 2 through the diff)

                          • Yeah I didn't weigh it with the bolts.
Apparently Chromoly isn't that much lighter haha.

                            • The way I understand it, chromoly isn't inherently all that much lighter, but it is stronger which means you can use less wall thickness to get the same strength which then will give you your weight savings. On pieces as small as that I'd think even with a stronger metal there's not that much margin to make the wall thickness much smaller, hence the relatively small weight difference.

Hey don't you have some bell housing to check?

Yes what you said is entirely true.
