                • So in case you guys didn't see, Fred Munster is selling his used 3.42 gears, and I'm somewhat interested. I'm pretty sure I'm currently running 2.73s (only SS and WS6 autos came with 3.23s, right?), but I have to check my option codes to make sure. They're used with over 140k miles on them, but my gears have more miles than that. Looking for some input from those who know more about this stuff than myself.

By the gears you want because it is convientant. It depends what you plans to do with the car.

                    • I was thinking about upgrading to 3.23s or 3.42s at some point. I'm looking for a bit more off the line...this car will be street-driven frequently, but I do plan on dabbling in autocross and drag racing occasionally as well.

                      • The 3.42 are probably the best compromise.

                        • so that being settled, would it be worth my time to buy used factory gears?

I don't see a problem with it. The expensive par is having them installed correctly.

                            • What will I have to do extra for the change from a 2-series to a 3-series gear?

                              • Changing gears is not something most people can do in their garage. There are special tools you need to do so.
