Yeah 5 qaurts is NOT enough, you better hope you didn't burn it up, i did 11 quarts then started it then finished it off when running for a grand total of 15 1/2 quarts.

Man I need to pay attention to this thread - the VSS wires being the issue with the speedometer and shifting was something I had a problem with when I did my engine swap. The wires are really brittle since they go through such hot areas.

I hate transmissions and filling them and checking the level. I put way too much in mine and it actually overflowed which I understand is horrible for transmissions as well.

yeah too full and not enough are both problems, you guys just have to research how much you actually need and make sure the car is on a LEVEL SURFACE when you check the fluid, Sitting in the car and shifting it through each gear is also a good idea.

Worst part for me is that my trans level dipstick isn't in the same position as stock LT1s because of my valve covers. Plus it's not like oil where it shows up easily on the dip stick - I swear I can pull the dipstick out for the trans fluid and I never can see where the fluid actually is at on the dipstick.

yeah you've always gotta give the fluid some time to run all the way down the dipstick tube.

I have that same problem! I can keep looking at it and looking at it and have no idea what to think. We also had to bend the dipstick tube quite a bit to get it to fit around my headers. We asked the shop to check it before they were done with it.

the 4L60e is not forgiving when it comes to fluid level. It needs to be perfect to maintain normal line pressure

called the shop today. turns out I'm not getting it back until tomorrow afternoon . On the bright side, I'm going to have a true-dual setup after all. I have no idea how they did it. I didn't even think they were going to do true duals when I talked to them, so I'm kinda nervous to see if it's actually what I want. I'm also more concerned about clearance now because I still want to lower my car a little bit. I also don't know for sure what kind of muffler he put on. I said Magnaflow when I talked to him before, but idk if he actually did it. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

so I drove the Z about 500 miles yesterday. I was really amazed at how well it handled on the highway, I wasn't expecting to actually enjoy the ride. I was expecting to get the crap beat out of me, but it was actually remarkably smooth. It was just annoying to have to deal with the howling from the driver's side window being almost all the way up, but not quite (motor's shot).

A couple of things that I've discovered. First of all, the thing seems really sluggish in first gear. I'll pull away from a stop, and it just doesn't seem to want to go. Then when 2nd comes along, it feel like a kick in the pants (enough to whip my head back). If I'm on it at all, it will consistently chirp the rear tires.

Also, the fuel gauge seems out of whack. I know that going way past full is normal for these cars, but I put in 10 gallons at the gas station and the gauge read over 3/4 full.

I've quickly come to hate the speed-sensitive steering. It's fine when I'm driving on the highway, but when I'm trying to park, I have zero help from the power steering.

My fuel gauge is f'd as well. If its in the red and I put 10 bucks in it will go to 3/4. Actually filling the car and it goes to like full and a quarter. Im just going to make sure I have gas.

No, I don't...my odometer doesn't work properly either. Once the the 2nd to last number reaches 9 (9, 19, 29, etc.), it stops. I put in just over 8 gallons of gas after roughly 200 miles, so that's 25 mpg right there. I'm pretty sure I got 20 easily.
