Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
yeah, it seems like 2.5" would be less of a headache. Pretty much every place I talk to seems to run away and hide whenever I try to mention custom-bending something with 3" pipes. Joel, what kind of mufflers to you have?
It's just that everywhere it's just clearance, clearance, clearance. And I haven't even mentioned potentially lowering the car 1-1.5"

i have 3" and no it isnt necessary, I just wanted it. no cats. 2.5 will flow all you need.
Exhaust shops are a trapshoot. the vast majority of them will look at you like you are some kind of zombie because you want something custom. Don't take that BS. I even had shops giving me a hard time when i was looking for a place to put custom duals on my truck which has TONS of room. Told me my gas mileage would suffer with true duals --- riiight. They usually sing a different tune when you tell them "Im not looking for an opinion, this is what I want, it CAN be done, is this the place for the job or not?" I couldnt believe how many "custom" exhaust shops out there gave me a hard time over a basic setup. Its really sad what that industry has come to. Thankfully I found Jay who is open minded about custom work and does a good job for me.
edit: my mufflers are flowmaster delta 40s

Is there a particular reason your mufflers are before the rear axle? Could I have the mufflers after the axle? That would make clearance slightly better.

the reason is because that is where muscle cars traditionally had them located and that was the sound I was going for. you could put them behind the axle but then you will either have to do some expensive bends over the axle on each side, or do some ghetto under-the-axle tailpipes.
Yeah, I have found one shop that sounds like they can do the work, but they seemed kinda sketchy. I had to look around back for somebody to talk to, then once I found somebody, I stood around and followed them for five minutes before any of them even acknowledged me. They all seemed like major rednecks too not really the kind of people that seem to run a good business.

more importantly are you addressing this fuel line problem?
yeah, we got it figured out. We had to take the fittings off the fuel rail on a junkyard car, and we're going to attach the lines still on the fittings with the Z's fuel lines with brass barbed fittings by heating them up with hot water. That's tomorrow's project.

yeah, the only dilemma is that they seem to be the only shop that's somewhat open-minded for what I want to do. I'll have to figure it out.
still, if they screw it up then you have to find a better shop and spend the money again anyway.
and i dont know anything about barbed fittings or whatever, but make sure whatever you do with that fuel line is rated to take more than 40 constant psi.

1. What does the stock air intake look like? This is the one that was on the car when I got it. It has no markings to identify it as stock or otherwise. The car had a cone-type K&N filter, so is this a K&N intake? 100_4757..JPG100_4758..jpg
2. There's a big hose bracket on the bottom of the fans, and I have no idea what's supposed to go in there. Any help? 100_4760..JPG

I have 3" on my car, it was a tight fit but it works, I did all my own exhaust work tho, if you want a pic so you have a base line just let me know, might be different routing between the auto and t56 tho
that looks like a k and n style air set up and that bracket is not for a hose its for your intake elbow should have a long plastic peice that goes down parrallel with the radiator and gets clipped into that piece.
