got the trans in today, so now we can really start making some serious progress. Tomorrow we'll install the torque arm and driveshaft, hook up the headers, and a couple of other things and maybe...maybe we'll get the thing started

well we didn't get as much done today as I would've hoped, but that's the way it goes. I have two important questions though:

1. There are three plugs in the wiring harness going toward the (automatic) transmission. We got the large round one and the small rectangular one for the traction control, but there is one square plug that for the life of us we can't find where the heck it goes. Maybe we're just tired, idk. Any help?

2. For you guys with dual exhaust, do you have another heat shield under the driver's side like there is on the passenger side?

Can you snap a photo of the 3rd plug that you can't figure out where it goes? I'm only aware of the transmission plug (the round one) and the VSS which plugs in on the driver's side of the transmission at the tail shaft.

I snapped a couple of pics this morning. The first picture is the mystery plug. Also, the small plug in the 2nd picture plugs into the passenger side of the tail shaft, not the driver's side. When we got the new transmission, the tail shaft on it had the plug on the driver's side, and that plug was slightly larger than the plug we had. We put the tail shaft from the original transmission onto the new transmission.100_4753..JPG

the car is equipped with traction control, if that makes a difference.

that picture looks like the rear O2 sensor wire which you won't have without cats.

so where does it go?

well if you have cats then you would have a bung in the exhaust after them and the plug would go to the O2 sensor connected in the bung. If you aren't going to run cats then it stays zip tied out of the way.

nope, I have removed every single heat shield from the bottom of my car. Id rather my floorboards be 2 degrees warmer than continue to cut my hands up on those things.

I plan on running high-flow cats. If I don't hook that last O2 sensor up, will that do anything?

You will get a catalyst deficiency code if you don't hook them up, but you might get it with the high flow cats too.

it will throw a code but that can easily be tuned out, other than that it wont affect the car at all.

yup, found it. Going to get a quote on exhaust this afternoon.

One more question for now: what's the best way to remove/attach fuel lines? I was told there was some special tool that's needed, but it's a major pain...
