Well the one I had pictured is actually bigger than the one I've been trying to use. the ones I'm actually using are pink and a bit smaller. Any smaller I feel like it would be next to impossible to get the wires in

They're a little pricey for what they are, but trust me they're well worth it. You can get some good leverage on them and it'll make as tight of a crimp as you'll get from anything less than pro tools. You can borrow mine if you don't want to buy a set.

If the wire is really thin... 1.) make sure you have the right size butt connector for the wire size you have and 2.) if you're still having problems try stripping a longer portion of the wire and folding it in half to increase its thickness in the connector.

So with my parents visiting this weekend, my dad and I spent a couple hours working on the car today. First off, we were able to get the wire fixed. It wasn't easy, but we got it, and it's giving a good reading. We did plan on doing the valve adjustment as well, but after running the car for a while to get it up to temperature, it actually sounded really good...valvetrain didn't seem to be making all that noise like it sounded like in the video I had up a couple weeks ago. I think that noise must just have been the leaky headers. Regardless, the car didn't sound anywhere close as rough as it did before. It was enough that I'm relatively convinced that the valve adjustment is probably fine the way it is. I'll have to shoot a video and put it up so you guys can see what I mean. What we did discover, though, is that the block-off plate that goes onto the header itself leaks like a sieve. We took it back off and put some copper silicone on it. That helped, but it still leaks a little bit. Either way, my current plan is to take it to get the oil changed Monday after work, wash it, then drive it everywhere for the next two or three weeks before putting it in storage.

After work today I took it to get an oil change, then drove it to my friend's house and back (about 20 mins one way, mix of highway and city driving). Other than the exhaust leak from the EGR block-off plate on the header, no issues to report

SES light came on tonight when I was driving back from church. Got home, plugged in my scanner, and it came back as P1441 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge. This is a new one for me, how can it be corrected and how will this affect the vehicle?

After doing a little research this morning, I found a place where it says this fault will cause the engine to run lean...I cleared the code last night, so we'll see if it comes back when I drive it tonight.

You'll have to have someone tune the code out. Whether it causes it to run lean or not -- I'm not sure on that to be honest, I always thought deleting the EVAP wouldn't cause any issues because all it's doing is recycling gas vapor.

I drove it about 12 miles last night, and it came on again on the return trip when I stepped on it a bit on the freeway. I cleared the code again, and I drove the car to work this morning with no issues. I think the code is only tripped when I'm a bit harder on the throttle, as in over 50% tip-in. I plan on picking up a new solenoid after work today and throwing it on tonight.

So when I switch over from Wisconsin plates to Michigan plates, I'm thinking of getting a custom one. Here's the first option:





Also, I filled up for the first time since getting the car back together. Only averaged 16.22 mpg....most of the miles were on the highway too. That seems awful low...EGR doesn't hurt gas mileage, does it?
