      • and I was wrong. Seem to be majoring in fail lately.

        1. horrible vibration around 45. Drove it around all day yesterday, made a few WOT 1-3 runs with no vibration. Wife and I head up to lansing last night and its just horrible around 45. Surprised we made it back. My driveshaft has new u joints as of last year, not sure what the issue could be. Had this problem a few weeks ago when Joel was here out of no where.

        2. lifter tick/noise. thought I had it taken care of with the header bolts, now it seems worse. Going to tighten them again and mark them with a marker to see if they are backing off when getting hot.

Really tired of this car at this time.

            • Would it be possible that by tightening three header bolts(all I could reach with tools I have) I caused the other bolts to leak worse?

              • I would say possible yes, but rather unlikely.

I think you need to use the long screwdriver to ear method and figure out if this is an internal noise or just a leak.

By the way did the new lifters seem to adjust better? More clear definition of zero lash and bottomed out?

                • No, the new lifters did not have effect with adjusting the rockers. Might try and do them yet again tomorrow.

                    • Got the vibration fixed, drive shaft wasnt centered correctly in yolk. Lots of sewing machine, ticking, odd noises that freek me out but I drove it to get some dog food.

I know its not what you want to hear but im wondering if valve springs have something to do with that. A stronger spring might compress the lifter instead of opening the valve.

                          • Whats your procedure for putting in u joints? Maybe the shaft needs to be balanced since working at cci one slight change in your driveshaft can open a hell load of worms trying to chase down vibrations and all

Have a stethoscope, know which ones it is. From mega loose to 7 turns tighter it makes no difference.

You could be on to something. Im going to drive it and get some good miles on it.

Shaft is good. When my dad put the drive shaft in it looks like he didnt have the caps squeezed together all the way. Innocent mistake. I just loosened the two bolts and took a ball peen hammer and pushed the cap in.

Took it for a nice drive around town and out to my uncles, no vibrations just engine noise. lol
