Yeah I know but my headbolts, springs, retainers etc., timing set are all at home and I still have yet to pick up my heads.
I really hope that all the snow's gone by spring break but it probably won't be.
I was going to try to clear my engine bay while the heads/headers are out of the way but I'm not sure if I'll have time.

Been doing some reading on valvespring install this morning. Do duals need to be shimmed? I think I'm understanding how to measure it and everything, guess I might as well shim them while heads are out of the car anyway. I spoke to a guy at TSP a while ago asking him about it and he said no, because their spring seats are designed for the LS1 to give proper installed height. I didn't believe him.

no shimming here or anyone else that I know of for that matter especially on stock rockers I don't see it making any difference.Doing less with more

Going to paint my intake sometime soon. What do you think, color match with the car or go bright red? I'm pretty sure I'm going to be doing bright red accents on the valve covers and coil brackets will be painted bright red as well. Also does anyone know where I can find an oil filler neck? I've heard they have a great tendency to break when being removed.

paint to match the car, bright red won't look right IMO. As for the filler neck any auto parts store should carry it or the dealership/gmpartsdirect just be super careful and get something small in there to depress the tab before yanking it out and you'll be fine.Doing less with more

Started prepping for paint today, smoothed with 120 grit followed by 320. I'll probably get around to spraying it Sunday, or whenever I can get into my friends' garage. I don't think FSU police would be too happy about me spraying it out in the quad.
I'll probably do the coil brackets at the same time too.

yeah you'll have to drop it a little to gain access to the bolt, its a pain but completely necessary. Don't worry about the gasket its very rare that they leak, they are made to reuse which is why they are riveted to the pan.Doing less with more
