while you have a very valid point Jeff, what I have stated is just a widely accepted rule of thumb. Bigger duration usually moves the powerband upward in the rpms and thus you are going to want a bigger converter. You also have to take into account converter slippage which is why even with a very large cam (240 range) most guys only run a 4400 converter as the top end of the spectrum for any street driven car.

The heads are $375 but you guys will have to find out a way to get them from me, I can hold onto them for a while if need be or have them shipped to you. As for the other heads those don't sound like a bad deal but I'm not sure what you mean by they were "dipped" If the mating surface is rough thats not usually a good sign, you want a good flat clean surface so you don't have leaks.Doing less with more

here's what I found http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/chevr...Q5fAccessories
I'm referring to being acid dipped to clean them.
I also just placed a bid on a pair of centerbolts $60 shipped.
Used to own a Firebird.

I just looked at the link you posted, auction is over.Originally posted by Fbomb View PostThe fact that they were milled .010 shouldn't cause me any PTV issues at all with a 230/230 .612/.598 should it? I think I'll put a bid in on it in a few days when it gets closer to the end of the auction.sigpic

You should still have plenty of PTV clearance. But you should always clay it if you have the heads off the motor.Originally posted by Fbomb View PostThe fact that they were milled .010 shouldn't cause me any PTV issues at all with a 230/230 .612/.598 should it? You remove the head. Put a slab of clay on the piston. Reinstall head and valvetrain. Rotate motor by hand. Remove head. Look at imprint of valve in clay. Slice clay in half and mic it to see how much PTV you have.

ok well let me just add my $.02 for cams call alan futural www.futuralmotorsports.com he uses cam motion cams which differ from every shops different version of a "custom cam" that they just spec for you and order from comp... he has his own custom lobe profiles which work amazing and are very driveable. Also they are billet core cams, not casted
I make alot of power from my futural cam and am very pleased with its driveability and broad range of power especially for the size of it. He is who i will call from here on out with anything cam related
Jeff knows a good cam guy to I dont remeber who it was tho I think maybe PredatorZ???99ws6 - Huron Speed Turbo - PT67
