    • Anyone have any suggestions on a new harmonic balencer bolt? I can get an arp for $25. Seems expensive!

        • Get the ARP bolt, the harmonic balancer and hub is a very important piece to the engine and you don't want to short cut it. If the bolt brakes or loosens out of the crank you will be screwed and have to replace the crank more than likely. Also the deep bolt head that ARP offers is extremely beneficial and will make your life much easier putting it on and off. I would not get a bolt from ACE as it won't be to strength spec. There is a saying when it comes to modifying and bolts, "If it aint ARP it aint right."

As for motor mounts, since you have the motor out it will be easy to install this way, therefore, I would go with either Prothane or Energy Suspension (Personally I would go with Energy Suspension). The vibrations will be slightly greater than the rubber mounts, however, they are stronger, won't erode from the elements or oils and aren't as harsh as solid mounts.

          • Get at minimum a new OEM harmonic balancer bolt. I know on LS1s, you stretch the bolt as part of the torque sequence (aka not reuseable). Either way, it's only $25, don't skimp out now.

            • Get an ARP. When you have to take the pulley off again you'll be happy you did. Its not an if either just when.

              • Mr. Plum nuts! Glad to see you on here!!!

My buddy is looking into getting an oem one.
Is installing it like any other sbc? If so I'm not worried about him installing it, he has a strong sbc background.

                Thanks for the advice everyone!!!

                  .
Ace sells harded bolts, check strike marks on top.

Gm did not start using torque to yield bolts untill 96-97 I believe,

                  • The motor mounts are in, the 3 bolts for the pulley will be in today. He gave me a deal I couldn't turn down on the arp bolt and washer since he was out of options. $15! I said sign me up!

What's the pn or thread pitch/ bolt size for the oil drain plug? The one he looked up is way too big.

                    • He got the bolt and washer sent overnight. He basically ate the price of it seeing i only paid $15. That's customer service!

Kind of a jahnke pic but you get the point.
The motor mounts are two different sizes correct?

                      • I was trying to gather things to get ready for Monday so I wasn't looking around for stuff.
So far the things I have lost:

                        Oil pan
                        Hub bolt and pully bolts
Oil pump drive- to find after I installed the new one
And now, the drivers side motor mount, nor either side main bolts that go through the center...

                        Suggestions?

Here is the passengerside stocker! It's seen better days!!

Edit: only one motor mount gave me hardware to put the shells back together! WTF is up with that?!

Congrats on the house! I figured it was a must to get the bracket. I have heard too many stories about welds breaking.

I'm pissed, I can't find the entire drivers side motor mount, brackets and all. then I can't find the part that bolts to the block on the passenger side... Grrr...
Can I get these things? Anyone have them?

Fml I'm sick of losing shit!
