I'm about to drop off the intake, should I have them open up the intake holes to match a tb? It will be later this summer before I get a bigger tb. How big? Worth it?

Yeah that thing was filthy for sure. If they're quoting a small amount for the TB holes enlarged, go for it I guess.- Brian Meissen

If you have a good rotary tool, do yourself a favor and pick up some aluminum cutting burrs.

I bought one of these and it worked AWESOME! Wear gloves, long sleeves, and safety glasses. Don't rush.

A little cutting fluid doesn't hurt either.
Most people enlarge it to the gasket for their specific TB when they buy a 54+mm TB. I'd try and find a gasket (or borrow someone's) for a 58mm TB and use that to find your hole size/location vs. just guessing, but I'm anal about these things and am probably making it more difficult than it really is.

They said they don't do that type of stuff. He said he can clean it up for me.
I think I'm just going to do it myself like you guys say. It would be stupid not to do it while the intake is off. What's stock tb? Should I go to 52mm? I know if I go 52 I'll find a good deal on a 58mm... It wouldn't hurt to go 58 would it? Then it will be big enough if I do go that big.2002 Z28 Camaro A4

The stock TB is 48mm, but I'm pretty sure the stock holes in the intake are actually already 52mm. I can't see why there would be any problem opening up the holes to 58mm even if you don't have that big of a TB yet, but doing a quick search couldn't hurt to be 100% sure.

58mm can actually hurt low end torque.

Ok people. Got the intake back and didn't waste anytime getting it painted. Taped it up

Base coat...

I originally wanted to clear it. But after seeing it basecoated I really liked the flat look. So I mixed up some clear with flattener. I went semi gloss and should of gone to a medium or even just flat. Oh well it looks better than before!!

Thank you! Anywhere from 3600-4000 still unsure tho. It's a 700r4. They changed to 4L60e in 94. I think a few 93s got the 4L60. Unsure though....Originally posted by c0ncEpT View PostDon't have time to read through 670 posts.
4L60? What size converter?
Nice looking build. Should get down pretty good.
Got my valve cover gaskets today, new vacuum thingy on back of intakes gasket, drain plug for the oil pan.
I'm going to modify the valve covers so it will fit the rockers without clipping the cover. Also going to clean them up and paint them.Last edited by mcalus; February 2nd, 2012, 11:10 PM.2002 Z28 Camaro A4
