Yeah - I was good, I checked your list of manufacturers first and saw you didn't have Walbro or Racetronix - heck, Summit didn't even have Racetronix, so that's why I went with Thunder Racing - it was the only place that I could find that had it.

Oh and - BUMP STOPS ARE FINALLY INSTALLED! Guys - I highly recommend going to Sears and buying Craftsman's "Bolt-Out" set. After spending like all day yesterday and today to work on it my dad and I went to Sears after I got out of work and bought the Bolt-Out set and had the bolts out in like 15 minutes per side.

I don't know why on earth people are so scared of the trap door method.. Its a piece of cake and way better than dropping the tank. Did the trap door method myself on the old v6 when I swapped in the racetronix fuel pump in one night. I screwed a piece of sheet metal on top after doing a nice gasket layer to keep the water out. Never had any problems at all, couldn't even see the trap door because the carpet is so thick. Wish I would have ripped the racetronix back out before I sold the car though the factory pump was just fine once the supercharger came off.

My fuel pump was swapped in a day...

And that was my '86...lots of PB Blaster. But I also didn't do it...

Why did Steve regret the trap door??

I know several peeps that have done it and it has saved them time and money more than once.
When mine dies, it will be getting a trap door

Well now y'all making me on the fence again. First everyone I talk to says not to do it, now y'all are saying do it...

Well just weigh out the pros and cons, the only con of doing the trap door method IMO is having a hole cut in the floor but as mentioned I bet you'd never know mine had this done unless you lifted up the carpet and looked, no gas fumes, no problems, nothing but a better pump. I even did the entire install with the car on the ground and it only took a couple of hours.

do the trap door. There is no downfall to it. You can make a door to cover it back up AND it's under carpet anyway. Really stupid if you ask me to drop all that shit down to drop the tank when you could have super simple access not even needing to jack the car up. Then if you have issues later its only a few seconds away.

Brian finally got those bump stops installed! I see you went with the red ones Mine came in the mail yesterday so hopefully they will be going on today I just hope I can get the bolts out like you did. So have you driven it around yet, notice a difference?

Well when we were under there we noticed the adjustable lower control arm on the passenger side was loose...

We adjusted the shocks to a 7 instead of 8 and the car rides a lot better now actually.

As for the bump stops - no, today at lunch is the test.

So what happens when your 225lph pump fails or has a short in it? Going to take a few hours to drop the tank again or just take a few screws out and access it in under 5 mins? Trap door method is the only way to do it IMO

Bump stops look great! I just installed mine last week, but mine were a little easier since mines newer and pretty much no rust from being a southern car. Some people say the poly's are to stiff, but compared to what I had which was nothing the ride is great and I no longer cringe at the site of a dip in the road, haha! I don't really have any travel anymore though now that I have bump stops because the bump stop is about a 1/2" above my rear. I just drive smart though and rarely hit the bump stops.

Yeah - I don't have much more than an inch of travel distance. I don't know for sure if I've hit yet... there's only a few places that I'd noticably hit and so far I haven't gone over any of those.
