Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Here is a pic of the old gasket and the new gasket. The new gasket has material over the oil filter area where the old gasket doesn't. The block protrudes down over the oil filter area. Because of the location of the crack in the pan, I think it cracked because the block protrudes down and there is gasket material there. Does anyone have experience with this? Maybe a '98 thing?
Meh, not a lot of work, just a stupid mistake. The first time, I pulled the mounts and used the cherry picker to lift the engine off the kframe a few inches and I cleaned the block surface in the front and my Dad did the back. When we took off the cracked pan yesterday to diagnose why it cracked my Dad kept mentioning the part of the block that was protruding and it didn't sound right. I took those pics quickly as we were leaving and I noticed it was the gasket stuck to the block after looking at them closely later. With the flex plate still on, I'm sure it was hard for my Dad to see that.
I got the old pan off, new one on, front cover on and aligned with the damper yesterday so I'm back is business.

Ah, so there was gasket stuck to the mating surface, not allowing it to sit flush - and thus, the cracked pan.
