      • Well, today was gorgeous outside, so I brought up the wheels and tires from the basement outside into the garage to finally make the swap.

        Now the comparison:

So now the pics on the car!

Well that's where I ran into a bit of an issue. The lugs I bought (some nice McGard chrome ones) are too big. They fit the stud just fine, but there is basically no space between the lug nut and the wheel. Even with my stock lugs, there wasn't enough space for the socket. Turns out I need "tuner" lugs, which I was not aware of beforehand. Bummed me out pretty bad as I was totally stoked to get these on the car, but I guess I'll have to wait. I ordered a set of spline-drive tuner lugs, which should work, but I'll sure as hell test it in the basement this time before dragging all the wheels and tires back up again.

        So, more waiting. Oh well...

          • Correct! The hub-centric rings fit very well, so that's a plus.

My new lugs are out for delivery today.

not going to be under 20 degree's out.

It was not meant to argue- It was only to show that is has been enough of a problem that they published a bulletin about it.

                • Didn't put them on today, no time. Will probably do them Saturday, since that day is free, and then I can wash it too.

New lugs definitely have a lot more clearance, though.

                    • Oh don't worry, I'll keep the steelies on when I park it, and also in late fall (or early winter, depending on when snow starts falling) and early spring, or if we go on a trip (like to Traverse City or Chicago or something).

                      • Today was relatively nice (it's nicer now than when I put them on this morning), I was able to get the new shoes installed, now with lugs that actually fit, that I can actually tighten.

Here are some pictures during/after the install, before I washed the car.

                        Width comparison shot:

Everything all on. Love that the tires actually poke out a little, rather than hide in the wheel well.

Pre-wash, but out of the garage:

Will post more pictures in a few.

                          • After I got them all installed, I washed and waxed the car and took it out to our local neighborhood undeveloped subdivision for some pictures.

Looking back at my pictures when I bought the car, the difference is quite astounding.

Back on July 10th, 2008, the day I bought the car.
