  • Welcome a new member of the family: Balto!

    Picked up my Cobalt today!

I thought Balto would be a good name, and thus it is!

Nothing special, but the car is quite nice, especially for being a previous rental.

    Run over some quick specs.

    -Summit White Exterior
    -Ebony Sport Cloth Interior
    -2.2L Ecotec Inline Four Cylinder
-15" Steel Wheels with Wheel Covers

I really like the car, has a decent amount of power for such a small car, spins the tires easily enough...

I'm sure it won't stay stock, but the majority of my funds from work (that aren't paying off this car or the insurance) will go to fixing the Camaro.

I do have some mods in mind, though.

Cold air intake, header, exhaust (Those three should help fuel mileage a little - good way to talk the parents into letting me buy the parts), 2.4L intake. Maybe a super/turbocharger... Nightshade the taillights and maybe get a set of "projector" headlights (or just get blackouts). I also want to paint the wheel covers black, or do a 5-lug spindle/hub conversion and put my 17" Impala SS rims on it.

    Fun little car!

I'd just do the cai and maybe a couple other cheap mods. Save the rest of the mod money for the Camaro.

Yep, I figure I'll probably just do that, unless I come across parts cheap...

Like a full supercharger kit for $700...

I want to paint the wheel covers black soon.

For that $700 you could probably get a new door and fender for the Camaro Sorry, your Camaro was just one of my favorites here and I rather see it back to it's glory the faster the better.

              That's true.

Seriously? You thought so? Wow...that makes me really want to fix it more!!!

...I need to do something about the front license plate holes, though. Any suggestions? Some filler and touch up paint?

                        So...

How many coats of Nightshade is recommended? How many cans do you think I'll need to do the 4 back tail lights? I need clear as well, right?

(This is just to give me an idea, performance comes first).

One can was all I needed to do all the taillights on my Camaro AND my Sonoma, including the 3rd brake light. I used a whole can on the massive tails on the Firebird too, but I still need to clear them. I'd say a can of VHT and a can of clear should be more than enough for the tiny tails on the 'balt.

Coat it...wait a while and see how it looks...you can always spray more. 1 can should be plenty. I would clear it afterwards

Set both taillights side by side and then spray a layer as if both taillights were one piece. Whatever you do, do NOT spray one taillight and then spray the other because you'll get uneven coats between the two. Let it get tacky, decide if it's dark enough for you or not. I wouldn't go too dark, but unfortunately I do not remember what the number of coats I used that I considered too dark.
