I guess this post should have been put in here...whoops!

I accidentally went all the way to ignition on instead of just accessory on, which meant the fuel pump turned on. Definitely smelled gas outside the car, which furthers my theory it's leaking from one of the lines. Still need to get under the car and see where exactly that is from...the fuel pump, per the testing I did last year, was pushing 60psi at prime without issue, and held the pressure after key-off, so I don't think the pump is the cause of my problems.

Thanks! It really does fit in there well.
I gotta figure out the left front speaker - there's some issue between the crossover and the speakers in the doors - something that used to exist before and I thought was due to the factory radio, but it's either a wiring (between crossover and speakers) or crossover issue. Need to dig into that.
The rattle behind the unit is obnoxious so I just need to figure out what it is and ziptie it so it'll stop that.
Otherwise, it was absolutely wonderful driving with it to Woodward on Friday.

Got everything all finished up today - amp installed and wired up, IP trim/panels reinstalled and got all the initial tweaking done. It's amazing just how much cleaner everything sounds - especially when I don't have to have the bass turned all the way down because the subs were running off the rear speaker feed. Finally putting these amazing speakers to work like how they were meant to.
Amp Installed:

Mic for the head unit is tucked away nicely on the steering column

Everything back together inside the car. Looks so clean there, I'm really happy with how it turned out

Something behind the head unit is ratting - probably one of the many, many cables behind there - so I need to either pull it back out and see, or hopefully reach my hand up back there from the side or below and keep whatever it is from rattling because it will drive me insane. I heard a little "alternator whine" through the speakers, but only at startup, and only before music starting playing - another monitor-type thing. I am just happy to finally have it done.
I now should have no issue hearing my music with the windows down on the freeway, which was a struggle even on max volume before. Having it only up to 3/4 volume was borderline painful, and I only have the gain turned up 1/4 of the way on the amp.

Was able to get more work done on the car today, though I didn't get it totally done like I was hoping to. Close, though!
Perfect little spot to put the GPS antenna - just had to unbolt the right side of the IP top pad and lift up. Hopefully it gets plenty of signal there.

All the harnesses and everything connected and the head unit installed. Good thing there is a shit ton of space in the center stack to shove all the extra cabling.

Cables are all connected to the crossovers, so I just need to run the power/ground for the amp, and hook everything up (and change all the amp settings) and it should be finally done.

Sometime this week, let's hope...
Had to mow the lawn today, and the basically the middle 50% of my back yard was all that was dry. The further outboard you went, the wetter - and muddier - it got. There were points where the mower was literally submarining into the mud.
So, needless to say, that about killed me - decided to just sit outside and have some of my growler after that. I'll hopefully get to this car this week.

Making good use of the holiday weekend...or at least part of it.
Back seat had to come out to run the wires how I wanted.

Four pairs of speaker wires, a remote wire and six channels of RCAs all fit with the scuff molding back on top. Most excellent.

Tomorrow, I should be able to get the head unit installed, and the 8-channel amp installed and wired up.

Finally showing this car some love. Have been wanting to upgrade the head unit for years now. Now it has made itself somewhat necessary, so what better timing.

Found it.

Pretty much the only non-stainless part of the exhaust (that and the header, but it is ceramic coated).
Looks like I need a stainless flange, and then to have it welded on.

Ugh, this thing has a pretty nasty exhaust leak - seeming to come right from the weld job that was done before the exhaust goes up and over the rear torsion beam. Now that the leak is louder, I'm starting to think it always may have been present, albeit in a much lesser form.

That's in the "eventually" list.
Got my tuning cable, and speedo-recal tune update this weekend. Drove the car Sunday down to the Royal Oak area (giving me an opportunity to re-torque the wheels, since they're aluminum). Doesn't ride too much worse, but the grip increase, my god.
And they are ****ing loud on the freeway.Last edited by MP81; May 5th, 2014, 08:09 AM.
