Once again...my dad did car stereo for 30 years...if I needed bigger gauge wire, we would've installed bigger wire.

Yeah I'd up the wire as well. The wire might work, but it is probably choking the amp.

Kenwood says it needs 10 gauge or greater.
Also - the ampacity for 8-gauge wire is around 50 Amps, which is more than the max current this Amp draws - not to mention, I'm not even going to see that unless I was running max input sensitivity on a bridged mono setup.
