Sandblasted the header tonight:

And got the first coat of POR-20 on

Plans are to bake it Thursday, curing the first coat, then apply another coat when I have some time next.

try and find an oven. I'd be willing to bet that having it baked on would only hold up better. wish I would have done that to mine.

Perfect, then I know what size I'm buying! Says it's pretty resistant to salt/weather...If I can find an oven, I'd love to do two coats.
Will probably not coat my downpipe, since it's stainless.

I still have some left over from my 8oz I bought. I have coated my headers twice and a buddys once.

Haha, I think I'm just gonna rock some POR-20.
Now, I wonder if an 8 oz will cover the header (I'm going to have it sandblasted), probably will do one coat since I don't have access to an over to bake it, think that sounds about right?
How much did you get, Jeff?

Because of the deal I got on this - and generally those headers are pure shit. A lot of guys have fitment issues with those.Originally posted by Derek View PostJust out of curiousity-why don't you just buy a stainless header? LS1 stainless headers can be had for around 200 on ebay, I can't imagine a cobalt header would be even close to that? Instead of all this hassle it seems like going with a nice stainless one that will last forever would be a better option-not to mention cheaper?

I'm leaning towards just POR-20ing it, because no matter if it's ceramic coated or painted, it's gonna rust eventually...and going with a stainless long tube in a few years.
