The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. And dont be afraid of the headlights, I did them on my Colorado. The seals turned out "OK" but i blame it ENTIRELY on the digustingly cheap quality of the housings in the first place You can check them out saturday morning before the convoy. Hopefully your cobalt lamps are better. Be sure to use permatex ultra black for the re-seal and ship it!
The first pic you posted only showed the small black and red wire thats why I think everyone said they were too small the wire underneath those are fine that is ok. What is the other power and ground for? You have two plugged into each.
Okay, that makes more sense then, haha (16 would be stupid to run an amp off of!) - those are power wires to my line-out converter.
And what I might do in the future is cover the front and rear with foam, then vinyl - then place the amp on top, so it'll "suck" it in and look sweet. Probably would help with vibration.

The Monster cable is like 10 or 12 gauge, but the shielding is much thicker. The smaller guys are 16 gauge, for reference.

Are you sure thats 8 gauge wire? It looks like 16 gauge speaker wire! In fact the wires you have going to the subs are bigger then the power/ground wire. Leave the amp on the box but if you think about it for a minute you will realize that its not a good idea. All those little parts and pieces inside the amp non stop rattling and taking the "thumping" from the subs while they are on... Just a word of advice I would take it off so the amp does not get damaged.
You need to take that amp off the back of that box pronto! Amp on back of rattling box (from the subs) = damage to amp over time. The amp is not designed to take that kind of a beating. Oh and like everyone else says that wire is WAY to small you need a actual Power and Ground wire to that amp. I understand your dad has been doing car install for 30 years but some of us have been doing it a long time too and you need a GOOD power and ground wire or you will fry that amp in due time... But hey you do it how you do it, looks good other then those two things.
Once again - I'm not pulling even close to the ampacity of the 8-gauge wire (and it's good stuff at that - it has a thin but strong coating on the outside, so it's not super thick, which might make it look smaller) - but it's fine - I mean, honestly, Kenwood would not recommend 10-gauge power wires if it needed something larger - the amp is really not that good. And people mount amps to the back of the box all the time - have done it for years. I'm not mounting it elsewhere, it's there to allow me to have some space in my trunk.
ANYHOW: Got some daytime pictures of the work I did last night, and definitely happy with how it turned out.
I definitely like it, now I need to do the headlights here soon, still kind of leery about sealing back together correctly, but I should be okay...I need to do it before the temps drop too much.

So I decided to paint my upper grille along with the bumper grilles, when I got home from work. My god was that upper grille a ***** to take out, and put back in! The outside bumper grilles were not friendly to remove either!
I used Krylon Fusion Satin Black, and I really like how they turned out - at least what I could see at 10PM at night outside, under some house lights...
