Yeah, but that's just one person. Other people had absolutely no problems, other people just had to unbolt the steering column from the dash and push the steering wheel towards the center of the car (only moves it less than 2 inches).

Like I told ya, I believe you and Mike got the very 1st ones he made because I had to remove the motor mount too to get the one in that I have.

And the I still had to force it up in there!

I know you like the deal you got but for 200 more you can have a set that fits ( I hope yours fit).
I'll pay the money and not have a head ache.

But for $200 is it stainless steel?

And I bought the last set that was for sale on ebay, but it was from the 1st and only batch he's made.

The ceramic coatings they use now are top of the line.
Stainless has better heat transfer all around but I'm willing to bet that you are not going to see a huge change in HP from a Coated to a Stainless.

I have had mine for 4yrs now and mine are just fine.
Granted the collector area has a tiny bit of rust but that don't bother me.
The only way I would buy a set knowing what I know now is if everyone that bought them didn't have to cut up their car to make them fit.

If you just spent 500 on a Tubed K-Member I guarantee you wouldn't take a hack saw to it.

Now if he was to make them FIT and step them from a 1 3/4 to 2" then I bet you would see some HP but your motor would need to be moded good to make them flow.

My other issue is the integrity of the K-Member knowing that I have to cut 1/2 to 5/8 out of it min. and that area is for the lower control arm.
I'm sure you would have to have a piece put in place where you took that chunk out.

Ya I know that they are stainless but they cost more to make them work when they don't than it would to buy a set of Hookers or Pace Setters.

Mike, do we have to eliminate the oil cooler or just remove it to install the headers??

Sounds like a better designed set of headers are in order. Cutting up your car to make substandard parts work vs. using properly engineered parts from the start makes a BIG difference in the end result.

He is designing a better fitting part - the problem is that this was the first batch of 75 headers and on his car the fitment was perfect - spot on. Either his car has some flex from age or the cars that these headers are being put on have some flex. Don't forget guys a STOCK v8 car will flex and can show signs of damage from a lot of launches. Not saying that's the problem with Mike's car but it very well could've been the problem with LPP's test vehicle.

Here's where I *believe* the bolts go into the body to mount the k-frame... it's hard to remember without having the k-frame lined up under the car :

I'm just wondering if his motor mounts are shot?

Mike wants me to make them fit so I guess that is what I have to do.
Me I would not do what I'm about to do, no way.

It just seems like a lot of clearance problems for a set of headers.
I'll get pics when I can & if I can.

                            Wish me luck

B you will have it easy because you have total access to your k-member right now.
Make sure you put those on before the motor goes in.

                            I'm off!!!!!!

You know, motor mounts are pretty cheap. It would be a huge mistake IMO not to do them, cause if you cut all that outta the Kmember, then find out the mounts are shot, you're going to want to kick urself right in the nuts, lol.

Yep after reading this I think I'm going to try the headers on b's engine, we put new motor mounts on his. Plus before I hack the k frame I would be inclinde to put a half to 3/4" inch block under motor mounts before hacking k frame. I don't think Raising engine would cause clearence problems.
