I was going to say sounds like a PCM issue especially with little to no data on a scanner, so I would be willing to bet that the ground strap you were talking about is the culprit. Any time we were not receiving data on a scanner at our shop, we would get a new PCM and go from there as this was almost always what was wrong.

Did you read any oil pressure on the scanner? Just got off the phone with my dad, and he says that along with a bad ground, it could also be the oil pressure switch, which is on the back of the block, which would kill the fuel pump because of no oil pressure. just a thought

didnt see oil press data either but his sending unit is just a one wire.. those type will still run with the conector not pluged in. as far as data period alot of the data either wouldnt display or not change.. like maf would read 0 then one time read 1900 grams so something is not right. i would do exactly as he is planning to remove the intake and recheck for unpluged harnesses or other broken wires, its not hard to remove the intake and be sure with out a doubt everything is in order behind it.

Yea the oil pressure sender on our cars is only for the gauge in the dash, PCM doesnt use the data.

I really wish you were closer lary. Id love to take a look and see whats up. I live to fix stupid shit like this. Just have to 1 at a time systematically eliminate things.

as I mentioned make sure the ground on the head is there, all years are a little different but my 98 has 3 wires that connect there. I unknowingly pulled one off a while ago and it gave me a headache too.

Well I found it, MAP sensor ground broke off... Deep down I knew if I pulled the intake I would find the problem... Should be running in a few days, too damn cold out in that garage..

Shit, I am frozen from 30 minutes in the garage pulling the intake.. Just happy I found the problem.. It was the last thing I looked at after pulling the intake.. Was pissed cause I didn't see any issues with anything, then started checking shit I thought was good and found the broken wire...

Invest in a multi fuel turbo heater. You'll be standing around your garage in a t-shirt when its 0 degrees outside with a decent one.
