      • Ram Air

Well I picked up a "Ram Air" air box/radiator support from Jon and installed it today. Everything was great, except the air filter tray from my stock box was about 1/8" too short and wouldn't fit over the ridges that lock it into place on the sides. The solution involved a cut-off wheel The one side is locked in and the other just sits on top of the ridges - no harm done in my mind as it will not affect performance and can not be seen with the lid on.

I don't know if there is a different tray for the WS6 Ram Air air box, but the one I bough from Jon didn't have one. If there is a different tray, I have no clue why GM would have made two separate parts so close in design...

        Pictures...

Comparison between stock trans am inlet and Ram Air inlet...

And here's the battery tray - decent quality. Worth the $32 to keep the battery from sliding an inch in any direction

You painted your's right? Any pictures of it? And how did you do it? I was thinking of making a custom box out of sheet metal. These things are way bigger than they need to be...

No I havent, but its a good thought. I wonder how it would turn out. Did you polish the set that you just bought?

Not yet... I found one defect that I'm not sure how to fix. Need to consult some pros. I'll throw up a picture of it later.

Yes... that's what lead to trying to remove the excess polishing compound with lacquer thinner

                            oh

could you really tell a difference from before/after. Make sure you document your polishing technique, i wanna see how you do it!

HUGE difference. It will be even more drastic with this new set. The only thing that will change from before is the final polishing. It will be done with a hand polisher with a foam pad and liquid compound. I'll probably just take it to the shop that did my paint work. Or Joel, but I don't get out his way too often.
