Ram Air
Well I picked up a "Ram Air" air box/radiator support from Jon and installed it today. Everything was great, except the air filter tray from my stock box was about 1/8" too short and wouldn't fit over the ridges that lock it into place on the sides. The solution involved a cut-off wheel
The one side is locked in and the other just sits on top of the ridges - no harm done in my mind as it will not affect performance and can not be seen with the lid on.
I don't know if there is a different tray for the WS6 Ram Air air box, but the one I bough from Jon didn't have one. If there is a different tray, I have no clue why GM would have made two separate parts so close in design...

And here's the battery tray - decent quality. Worth the $32 to keep the battery from sliding an inch in any direction

You painted your's right? Any pictures of it? And how did you do it? I was thinking of making a custom box out of sheet metal. These things are way bigger than they need to be...Originally posted by OIF1VET View Postyep, big difference with the ram air lower box..2000 Trans Am l 1967 Firebird

Mine is painted same color as car.. Painter did it for free when he painted my car. Sorry, no lid on, in process of pulling intake, nitrous and whatever else I decide to mess around with...lolOriginally posted by Lucky SOB View PostYou painted your's right? Any pictures of it? Not yet... I found one defect that I'm not sure how to fix. Need to consult some pros. I'll throw up a picture of it later.Originally posted by ThreeHonks View PostNo I havent, but its a good thought. I wonder how it would turn out. Did you polish the set that you just bought?2000 Trans Am l 1967 Firebird

Yes... that's what lead to trying to remove the excess polishing compound with lacquer thinnerOriginally posted by ThreeHonks View Postthrow up a pic when you get a chance, im no expert but maybe I can give you some input. Did you polish the old ones?

HUGE difference. It will be even more drastic with this new set. The only thing that will change from before is the final polishing. It will be done with a hand polisher with a foam pad and liquid compound. I'll probably just take it to the shop that did my paint work. Or Joel, but I don't get out his way too often.Originally posted by ThreeHonks View Postoh
could you really tell a difference from before/after. Make sure you document your polishing technique, i wanna see how you do it!
