  • Well, finally killed a piece of my drive-line

Thankfully just a U-joint! But I guess after 6 years of chirping 4th gear im doing pretty good. I got lucky, this happened right near my house so i was able to limp it to the garage. A piece of the u-joint let go somehow, not sure what the cause of it was. Happened while i was engine braking, with no shock to the drive line.

Just thought people would enjoy some minor carnage

For those that don't know what they are looking at, the needle bearing cap is gone. I believe it split in half some how... thats the only way i can explain the scars on either side of the driveshaft. The cap bolts didnt appear to be backed out or anything like that.

Those u joints are probably $10 or so. Guess you got your money's worth.

Yeah I am having both U-joints replaced. These ones have weathered a lot of abuse, so if im replacing one i might as well replace both.

Sometimes the Almighty Mother of Car Guys sits on our shoulder, That could have been nasty at high speed.
Might be just the picture but the yoke looks as though one side is spread open further

Yes, they were spicers. As you can see the torque arm is covered in nasty

                      I would buy spicers again.

I dropped the driveshaft off at the same place that gave me the spicers last time (when I bought the car). I am not the least bit disappointed that I broke one... like ive said, they have been through a lot
