Cruising through the Jackson leg of the route this afternoon after I'm off work. Meeting up with Devin and Mike at 4pm, I'll make sure we all post up our thoughts on the route. We may take the back roads to Hell, but that's all dependent on whether they feel up to it or not. lol

It was actually a nice drive. Still trying to figure out a couple stops to make along the way, it's looking like a quick stop in Hell for some food, maybe a wine tasting and vineyard tour in Leslie, and a detour through Pinckney to get us on track to get on the highway for the final leg to Baker's of Milford. Hoping to make the trip a total of 4-5 hours including drive time, pit stops, and photo ops, which would put us at Bakers around 2:30-3:00.Originally posted by MikeM View PostI've always felt that I was on the back road to Hell . . .

That said, the starting location is TBA, I haven't decided if we are going to do the MIS thing or just meet at a park in Jackson.
I tried to set up a tour of the old Michigan State Prison in Jackson, but at $35/person and 4 hours long, I thought it was a bit much for our small group to handle on top of all the driving.Nick H.

It does help. . . I'm at Michigan Ave and Dettman during the week, how far is it, and what direction? I'll stop by on my way home on Thursday and scope it out.Originally posted by ryanwarby01 View PostOur shop is at Michigan ave & M60 if that would help meeting there.Nick H.

Does anyone have any suggestions for some fun places to stop along the way? It's one thing to drive through an area, but another entirely to stop in and learn about the area. I'd like to re-name our fall event the Michigan Firebird Club Heritage Tour, and I will post full details about the start and end locations, times, stops, and other info you need to know. This will all be in a separate thread, this one is reserved for discussion about planning and last minute details of the event.
That said, I'm still looking for a location with some historical significance for the first stop on the route, and while the old Jackson Library is a beautiful building, it's just not exactly what I would like to have a group of firebird enthusiasts doing for an hour or so on a Sunday morning. No offense, but I can't take you guys anywhere without something getting broken, spilled, thrown, dropped, kicked, or damaged as a result of general rambunctiousness.
Our tour is going to kick off right here in Jackson, we have per-arranged a staging area to meet up and cruise to our first stop, which is yet to be determined. From there, we will take the back roads North and East until we get to the quaint little town of Hell, where we may choose to play a round of golf at the Hell 18, an 18-hole handicap-accessible miniature golf course. There are a number of neat little places in the area that we will venture through, including the Hell Dam, the Hell Souvenir Shop (where wordplay and puns run rampant).
From there, we will head toward Pinckney, where we will probably get on the highway to get to Baker's at a decent time. I will be calling ahead to have some parking reserved for us, after I figure out how many people plan to attend.
Details to follow, and watch for the announcement thread, I will be using a poll to get a rough count of how many people to plan for.Nick H.

No offense but these are not things you should be worrying about when planning an event for a group of adults.Originally posted by 93formulalt1 View Post.... I was joking. . . The reason the library isn't an option is because most of the MIFC members who have been around for a while don't strike me as the types to enjoy walking around a library for an hour, most of them would prefer something either more automotive related, or in an outdoor setting where we can headbang our mullets and break stuff. (That was a joke too, btw.)Originally posted by WMCC Gary View PostNo offense but these are not things you should be worrying about when planning an event for a group of adults.
