Akodo that sounds fantastic! I've been down to the Adrian/Jackson area many of times, and it's simply beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing and what not. My grandparents live in Hillsdale and Jonesville. I very much like this idea for a cruse. Plus I'd get to play paintball .... I'm glad to admit I'm in far better physical shape than I was last time I played.

Paintball isn't something I could see the bulk of our members participating in, so I don't think it would make it into the itinerary, honestly. Maybe something else that's a bit more family-oriented would be a better option.Originally posted by ryanwarby01 View PostOur shop is in Jackson and I heard the prison tour is really cool. I work in Jackson. Lol. I'm there from 7am-4pm M-F, if you want to show me around to the cool places, let me know, I'd be down to meet up after work. I work near I94 and Michigan Ave., but I'm occasionally in other places. Usually the "rough" parts of town, I definitely don't see Jackson for it's positive attributes, as I am normally in contact with out-of-towners and the more aggressive residents.Originally posted by Elliott87iroc View PostNick if you do the Jackson trip I can show you around I live in Jackson
Let me know what you want to do, I'll stock up on oil and bring the 'bird to work. HahaNick H.

I would recommend looking at the Roundhouse at Ella Sharp, the Cascades, the Prison, the Armory, the Parlour, and thats about it. Can't think of much else thats "picturesque" in Jackson, and I lived there all my life.Originally posted by 93formulalt1 View PostI work in Jackson. Lol. What about the Michigan Theater in downtown Jackson? I heard that it had been restored. Anything going on there? Is there an old Michigan Central depot? The original Jacobson's? The plant that made the Kaiser Darrin bodies? The original Sparks-Withington factory that made radios and Spar-ton horns for the Big Three, and whose money paid for the Cascades? Are there any interesting old homes or cool buildings to drive by?

I would be interested in this as well. I haven't been here long and still don't know what there is around here.Originally posted by 93formulalt1 View PostI work in Jackson. Lol. Let's get Robert to act as a tour guide, and we can pile into a car and cruise around Jackson. The only thing I can do is direct us away from the "less savory" areas and offer protection in the event we do stray from our intended route. I'll shoot Robert a PM tomorrow, and maybe we can work something out for this week. I'm working out there on Saturday evening as well, so I would be free up until about 6pm. I'll shoot you a pm and between the three of us, we should be able to work something out.Nick H.

All I can say is that, although I'm in favor of the Irish Hills tour route, we sure didn't need our CPLs in Frankenmuth, now did we?Originally posted by 93formulalt1 View PostLet's get Robert to act as a tour guide, and we can pile into a car and cruise around Jackson. I don't think Jackson is that bad of an area, if you stay away from the housing projects and most of the south side. I know the areas to avoid, and as I've said before, I've never NEEDED my CPL, but I have it on the off chance that I do need it.Originally posted by ktl711 View PostAll I can say is that, although I'm in favor of the Irish Hills tour route, we sure didn't need our CPLs in Frankenmuth, now did we?

I believe the prison tour could be a fun stop, but if nothing else, there is some nice scenery around the loop we are looking at, and MIS is only a few miles away. Also worth checking out are Devil's Lake and Round Lake, both along the route. There is also Hidden Lake Gardens, which would be a fun stop for some photos or a picnic lunch. We could still check into a stop at the GM Proving Grounds for a last-minute photo op before pulling in at Bakers for the cruise in afterward.
Suggestions are welcome and encouraged! I want to make this a memorable event for everyone, and if you don't like the direction the conversation is going, feel free to toss in some alternatives.Nick H.

Michigan theater is nice, but its in a small corner of downtown with ZERO parking. The old Depot was converted into a Wendys. Jacobson's was torn down. The Sparton building burned to the ground awhile ago. The original building is still there, but again, little to no parking. Not sure about the kaiser-darrin one, I'll look into it.Originally posted by ktl711 View PostWhat about the Michigan Theater in downtown Jackson? I heard that it had been restored.
