As a guy with back problems as well, I'm not sure how much awareness we could really raise...but I'm for if. I will be sending some money either way!

Call me crazy, but what I'd really like to know is if the car he intended buying was a father/son deal. If it was, and some money was set aside for it, I'd help build the car (as a group) with his son as a memoriam to his father. I would let go of my rims/tire for dirt cheap towards the build as well as any other parts I have around. Just a thought

like me his plans always were changing but i am pretty sure his car was for the most part finished if one can ever be called that. and honestly i met up with him alot and if anyone met mike before it was never just a five minute chat, great guy but i dont believe his son had much interest in the cars at all. sad to say.

if thats the case, i'll definitely hold the car. i'm on the west side (literally on lake michigan) or i'd become part of the project. i know he already bought a 6l for the car. not sure if it was complete or what? he wanted to do a cam in it from my understanding. i have some stock heads i could donate to go get a p&p job on. let me know.

In honor of Mike's contributions to the F-Body and LT1 communities at large, the Michigan Firebird Club will be dedicating our fall cruise to his memory, and accepting donations to help his family out.

I sent a small donation in the name of the Michigan Firebird Club. I only wish I could afford to do more for Mike's family.

Please let me know if there is anything at all that they need.

Rest in peace, Mike. You were taken from us far too early.

I thought it was a good point - with this being so unexpected it's not like they would ever be prepared for this.
I was going to make the same suggestion, Rather then send a bunch of flowers that we donate money either to help with the funeral or what ever the family needs.

Someone should get in contact with the family. If he had a life insurance policy, they likely won't need to cover the cost of the funeral, as many funeral homes will make arrangements for payment after the insurance policy is paid. At least that's how it worked when we lost my Dad unexpectedly, the funeral home was very understanding and accommodating.

If anyone has an email address for Mike's wife, or would be willing to pass along a message for me in a few weeks, could you please send me a PM? I do not want to bother her in the midst of everything that is going on right now, but I will have a couple questions to ask her at some point before the end of September.

I found Mike's relatives on Facebook and reached out to them asking for information on whether they'd like a donation towards funeral expenses or a floral arrangement. I wanted to let them know we all send our heartfelt condolences and linked his sister to our thread.
