Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Just an FYI Joel. You have seen my car, i have BMR springs all around. the rears didn't really drop much at all, MAYBE a half inch if that. the front did quite a bit, but then again the de carbons i had were blown to hell.
I have SLP springs in the rear currently which dropped it 3/4" (hardly noticeable). A lot of the BMR cars ive seen look lower in the rear than mine, but maybe I will get lucky and not need spacers! I like the stance i have right now plus going lower would risk my torque arm hitting, however my spring rates being mismatched like they are now is a problem.
Depending on what you can get the LS1 brakes for...just go for a 5th gen setup. Very common, basically the same amount of work.
that being said, my current drilled/slotted setup is freeking awesome compared to my stock ls1 setup on my black car.
I already have the LS1 calipers and I think maybe the brackets too... honestly cant even remember all of what i bought anymore But anyway, I am doing the LS1 setup for the specific reason that i want to continue to use 16" tires for autocross. They are dirt effing cheap in comparison to 17s!
Actually found some time to get some wrenching in on the car today! It was a mess of 20 year old half-burnt power steering fluid and an eventual dead-end but i made some progress. I plan to do some track days this year at waterford hills, so i decided id better install the power steering cooler that ive had on the shelf for an eternity. I also wanted to do my alternator relocation and replace the power steering pump since ive had the parts for that for quite a while too.
I've been wanting to do some powdercoating and fancy stuff in the engine bay since I'll be the first to admit mine looks like a murder scene right now. However I hashed it over and decided I'm not going to do anything for show until the entire engine comes out for a rebuild. The changes I am making now are going to be primarily for function.
Started by test fitting the Power steering cooler. It was a bit too big so I had to modify it. Didnt come out as clean as id hope, but oh well. No ones going to see this thing. I decided to put it behind the air dam because my PS pump was overheating within 1/3 of a lap at grattan... it needs all the cooling it can get. Some people even run dual coolers, i'm going to see how far this gets me first.
Drilled some vents in the air dam
Painted black to make it blend in
test fit
On to the Alt relocation... "before"
Bracket, alt, and PS pump out of the way
Removed that ugly red wire insulation my dumbass put on the car in high school:
The new modified bracket and PS pump
Extended Alt wire
New bracket in place
And here is where I ran into problems. Alternator doesnt fit, its hitting the frame / side of engine bay. I need about 3/4" more clearance. dawdaw - what did you do with this, did you run a different alternator? Please let me know, otherwise im going to have to swap back to the big ugly bracket Bottom bolt is in, but cant get the top one, it hits the side of the engine bay first.
Stay tuned!

Thanks, I am going to look for a screen to put over the front, the fins on it dent so easily i imagine bugs/rocks would take a toll on it pretty quickly if i dont.
This may be an ignorant question, but why the relocation?

This may be an ignorant question, but why the relocation?
A few reasons:
1) it looks better
2) it gives me easier access to replace the power steering pump on the fly if i fry one
3) it lowers my center of gravity by a fraction of a percent and weight by a half pound
4) mostly because i just got the bracket for the right price

I don't see why your running into problems... ran a stock alternator on it and it had quite a bit of room. I just went out and looked at the car and the frame rail is straight and wasn't dented in to clear it... Got a better pic of where its hitting from underneath the car. dug these old photos off my old cell,
This may be an ignorant question, but why the relocation?
probably one of the better things about it is allows for the use of any conventional SBC center bolt valve cover that isn't notched for the factory alternator location as well! got me a nice madman set up now.
Kyle are you using different motor mounts than stock maybe?
I'll take another look at it just to make sure im not overlooking something stupid. I see many people have done these before so what the heck...
ya just poly ones... I don't think it would make a huge difference over stock but you never know... I would just relook it over. I can't see it having serious fitment issues.. post pictures of it from the bottom when you get a minute
I remember having a similar problem when I tried this back when people just discovered it would work. Never did figure out what was wrong, but I did have a BMR K-member in that car.
