But there is one problem with both these cars. They're trying to look like cars from 40 years ago (the Camaro less so). The big 3 should be moving forward with designs, not trying to relive their glory days. Those were awesome cars, but you can't live in the past.
Preaching to the choir man, been my position particularly with the Camaro all along, they haven't and won't be doing it with the Vette, that's for sure.

Let everybody else go retro, lets move forward. However, I lost that battle before I could start it.

The thing is, only the Big 3 can go retro . . . no one gets sentimental about a '70s Toyota or Honda, they were mostly cheap little econoboxes with 4-bangers.

Also, the only thing going retro is sports cars . . . nothing else is really going that way. Since sports cars are never bought purely for transportation, and since so many people love the way that the older cars looked, why not tap into that? Personally I love the way the Challenger looks, and not because it's retro - I think it's just the classic pony car lines (long hood, short deck, not a lot of frills, agressive) that do it for me.

The Camaro looks too much like a bubble in the rear, and too wedgy up front, for me personally. But to each their own. I suspect the Camaro will have a small edge over the Challenger in performance, but not enough to make a difference anywhere except the track. And I wouldn't buy either car to take it to the track - I'd drive the heck out of it every day

I dunno about that. What about the FJ cruiser, and the Element looks like it's pulling cues from somewhere in the past. No one drove hondas or toyotas in the 60's, but they can pretened.
I'm much more active on TGO as they have more info pertaining to my model, but I do stop by from time to time.

Good work OT! I like em too

I wasn't old enough in the 70's to appreciate the cars back then so it's all good by me with the retro thing. Ford hit a grand slam with the new Mustang, Dodge did the challenger up right too. The thing that I like most about the new Camaro is the side profile, and that's because it is looks like a modern 69. The thing that worries me most about the new Challenger and Camaro is market timing....Ford got it right and got their car to market during a much healthier economy....Dodge and Chevy...not so much.....hope it doesn't hurt them in the long run and endanger the car's lifespan.

The more I see them the less I like them. The side profile is just too rounded and plain. There's no detailing or trim there. The Camaro has the fender vents and angled kick out at the bottom. It doesn't look like it's 20 feet tall compared to the side profile of the Challenger. I don't hate it but I wouldn't buy one. I'd take an SRT8 Magnum over a Challenger any day!

I like the look of the Challenger, but I may be biased since I have been working with them since last spring. It's funny to hear everyones opinion as they become more common in the real world - most are the same things my coworkers and I have been saying since we got started with the platform. I can say that after riding in both the Mustang and Challenger, the Challenger wins hands down. The combination of ride quality, agility, and power is truly first class.
