Thanks for the recommendations! I think I am going to try and find somewhere local to reupholster my seats, will cost way too much to ship, and I really don't wanna have to try and fit seat kits on myself.. especially trying to recover the Recaro seats ugh!Originally posted by ruckusz28 View PostMr mike's did my interior. What color samples did you get from them? I'm torn between the medium gray, sandstone, and medium beige.....In those online samples the gray looks a too gray, the beige a little too tan, but the sandstone could be perfect.
Remember the carpet is suppose to have hint of tan to it.West Michigan Pontiac Club

8075 - medium gray
8295 - medium doeskin
8655 - sandstone
So these are the colors I got samples of.. I guess it was "sandstone" that ended up looking the best

FWIW, the carpet in my 1994 is from stockinteriors.com and I've always been really happy with the quality of their carpet.- Brian Meissen

yea.. it seems like their carpet is actually ACC anyways.. so should be good! and price is good too!
So the plans for the interior are as followed at this point...
-replace heater core
-remove surface rust and protect with POR-15
-do some sound deadening with fat mat
-replace carpet
-clean up and reuse as many interior panels as possible
-panels that are too far gone (blue panels) replace when available, for now SEM paint/dye as close to color as possible
-clean seats and fix small issues (for now)
future plans are
-reupholster ALL the seats. not sure if they are going to go all leather or try and go original here..
-replace headliner, sail panels and possibly sun visors
-re-wrap steering wheel
-replace all faded or worn out switches
-radio situation needs figured out still"Project Shadowfax" <- Clicky Clicky

You'll probably find this on earlythirdgen.com, a few of the people there have used this company for restoring their steering wheels and have been very happy with the results.

I have the SEM code for the correct dye color for the interior panels. I'll look it up again and let you know what it is.West Michigan Pontiac Club

so I have been thinking about this VERY hard the last few weeks.. but I am starting to get to the point where I am thinking that I might just pick up a low mileage 5.3 or 6.0 LS engine and start acquiring all the parts for that swap. this will be WAY more involved that just doing my 383 swap.. but the more I have been looking.. the more it seems worth it.. what do you all think? obviously this would be a multi year, little at a time, low budget process..
since I am so good at making lists.. here is my thought process on this.
5.3/6.0 LS swap
(pro)low(er) mileage engines can be had and affordable for under 1000k
(pro)N/A 5.3/6.0 with a cam/intake/exhaust/tune can push some real good power for decent price
(pro)5.3/6.0 push decent power stock, even if I decide not to mod right away
(pro)fuel injected, more effecient and reliable
(con)fuel injected, have a bit more overhead to get it working right (new wiring, computer, professional tune, etc)
(con)I don't already own the engine, which means having to buy used and going through the whole thing
(con)I have ZERO experience with LS engines
383 gen I swap:
(pro)already own the 350 engine (rebuilt)
(pro)know the engine history/parts used
(pro)staying carb'd would be very simple
(pro)already have experience working with these engines
(con)stroker kit is expensive
(con)new heads are expensive
(con)extra machine work is expensive
(con)current carb and cam are not a good fit for new setup (or old setup for that matter)
I plan on going T-56 either way I go.. I know there are differences between LS1/LT1 t-56's so I should really figure out which way I am going before acquiring parts for that swap.
The nice thing is.. if I go LS swap.. I have a bunch of stuff I can sell to help fund it..
Stuff I could sell:
-rebuilt with less than 1000 miles Gen I 350
- Stock LO5 short block out of an 88 Chevy Suburban (.040 over flat top hypereutectic pistons, .010 under crank journals, moly rings, bimetal bearings, high volume oil pump, and all ARP fasteners, stock rods/crank)
- Stock LO5 (193) swirl port TBI heads, rebuilt and milled slightly, with Crane Valve Springs.
- Comp Cams Thumpr Cam (279 and 297 duration, 0.479 and 0.465 lift (with 1.5 rockers), and 107 degree lobe separation, flat tappet hydraulic 279TH7 )
- Proform gear drive
- Crane Springs
- Comp Cams Lifters that came in the Thumpr Cam kit
- Summit One piece forged chromemoly pushrods.
- Crane Gold Race Full Roller Rocker Arms (1.5, non self aligning, narrow body).
-silver ceramic coated shorty headers and y-pipe (Hedman Elite HTC)
-700r4 transmission
-polished aluminum 670 street avenger
-MSD pro billet HEI race distributor 8365
-holley high flow mechanical (polished aluminum) fuel pump
-K&N drop base intake with filter, and lid with build in filter
-Rocker arms are
-Summit High Torque mini starter
-Summit Street/Strip stage 1 intake manifold SUM-226016
So... what do you all think?"Project Shadowfax" <- Clicky Clicky
