  • Couldn't really tell you to be honest, there was a 2.5 year gap between when I drove the car with the panhard vs the Watts and everything else changed at the same time. I do love having it though as it allows a ton of flexibility with spring rates and it's the first adjustment I make for balance. It also lets me fit the 315s under stock rear fenders with only some rubbing on the inner fender at high grip sites.

    • Long story short: It rained, officials did some weird shit, and we won't know the final results for a few weeks. I know for a fact I will be 8th, and a 66.6% chance I will finish less than 2 tenths out of the the 6th and final trophy spot.

      Copied from FB:
The #teamdumpsterfire SCCA Solo National Championship that I almost lucked my way into, but didn't. I've always done well in the wet, and really threw down one hell of a run on borrowed set of 255/275 Conti DWs. Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for the class of ESP as a whole, the course dried up and the Hoosier Wet factor took over. (Hat tip do Danny Kao for the jinx)

I ended up where I deserved to be. 8th on day 1 due to lackluster driver and not being used to the car. 8th on dry runs on day 2 due to being terrified of coning, and 8th in the wet due to being a cheap bastard and not having Hoosier wets. The guys ahead of me fully deserved to be where they are. We will see what happens in the end.
I won't forget carrying a huge margin on the class for half the heat. I also won't sleep on prep with the driver or car. Brakes were spongy all week and I tracked it down to a leaking master. 335s may need to be a thing, and a 99+ tank is tops of the offseason list. If the car stops blowing diffs I'll actually get some real seat time. This was the development season from hell. Looking forward to a better 2017.

        I didn't know your car was a '94, I thought it was a 98-02.

99+ tank because they're plastic or is there another advantage?

        • It's a 94 in VIN and rear axle only.

99+ tank has the pump in a bucket so it doesn't starve in high G corners. Would allow me to run ~2/3 tank less fuel and get away with it, along with being slightly lighter than the steel one to begin with.

          • Some event photos. These were both from the Thursday West course, will have more once the pro photo guys get around to processing them. I always love the shots where you can see the tires flexing under load.

              Baller.

The tire flexing shots from the Kettering Autocrosses were even more extreme when someone would run their boat around the track. A couple of pictures you'd swear the edge of the wheel was touching the ground, the sidewall had rolled so much.

Thinking I might see if my brother wants to attend one, once he starts up there in the fall. Would give me a reason to finally drive up there and run the Balt with the ZIIs, considering that's what I bought them (and the 18s) for two years ago - then proceeded not to do any AutoXs.

              • Yeah when I looked at the first shot it actually made me a bit concerned as my first thought was the suspension doesn't have enough droop travel since the tire is almost off the ground. Then I looked at all the other ESP cars and they were at least as bad if not worst, so it must have been a bump.

                  • Holy hell that is some standing water!!

There was another picture I was thinking of - but this one showcases it just as much. I think this was the autocross that DJ (orange fox body, black 2011 5.0) broke both swaybar endlinks driving the hell out of this thing at.

Ahhhh i didn't know this! I had problems with my car cutting out in hard left turns. My fuel level is so far off, 1/4 tank on the gauge is dry in reality.

Yep. With ~7/16 tank or so I got fuel starve on my first runs at a ProSolo. By my last run I fuel starved off the launch (~35 second courses, total of 4 runs). 93-98 have the same basic fuel tank. The plan would be to upgrade the pump when I do that so I can run E85. Combine that with rebuilding the motor with the allowable block decking, balancing everything, and porting the heads within 1" of the manifold (and possibly a 99+ block so I could do the slight allowable overbore), I'd think I could hit 390-400whp in a bolt-on LS1. It runs like a ****ing champ now, but it's got 158k hard miles on it so it would also ease my mind with the ~1700 mile round trip.

I don't know what is the issue with linking to FB pictures these days, but they don't seem to work anymore. .

I'll try and download it and attach it.

                            EDIT: Here we go.

Any problems with that light weight battery yet? I just snagged one off Amazon for 80 bucks in one of their little chargers to throw in the Firebird

                              • I only put it in once I got to Nats and haven't driven the car since I got back. I disconnect it any time I'm not using it. It started the car all week and made the 840 mile drive home just fine.
