You may be done with Jake and myself. I hope you at least pay your debt with Greg, he'll need it to cover gas expenses driving over to Jake's to finish the car.

Alright I'm locking this thread for the time being just to let some tempers die down.

For what it's worth, I had exchanged PMs with Jake earlier in the week asking what was going on with him and Ken because I had picked up on it from the comments in the shoutbox and Rolo's project thread and he told me to reach out to Greg instead. When I contacted Greg, Greg told me that he had talked to Ken and everything was straightened out. Greg offered to call me and fill me in on the whole story, but admittedly it was after 9pm and I had already gone to bed and missed his call. I didn't get any other PM's and thought since Greg said everything was straightened out that it was no big deal.

I'm disappointed to come onto the forum and see the post calling Ken out when it was supposedly all straightened out.

I'm unlocking this thread because I saw Greg say that there were updates to be made. Let's be clear that this should be on topic to the build. If AJ or others jump into this thread and start back and forth arguing then the thread will be closed again.

Guess its no longer a sniper performance project any longer since the name was changed ....however, we now are tracking down some small harness issues from what we thought was a clean uncut harness from a big 3rd gen parts seller on here...wont name, names but it wont slow us down either.

Also when we are ready for a tuner does anyone know of a good tpi-vette tuner in Michigan besides the asshats at EVI ?

Put the sniper performance title back where it belongs, he built the engine and did all the work. Dunno when Brian thought it was okay to go changing it himself. Oh the politics

finally got the car fired... as soon as it fired rpms went right up to 3500-4k and just sits there. We shut it down with in 20 secs and the passenger side header wrap started smoking and smelling like shit, had a fumey white smoke, had a chemical smell to it. Driver side had nothing at all. What would cause such high idle like that and not let it come down ?

Ken where are we ? any ideas or suggestions ?

Vacuum leak somewhere? Forgive me I haven't read your entire thread to know what engine you have.

Did you check the throttle body and see if its open? Plates shiuld be closed at idle. I had my cruise cable holding mine open on start up after I put mine back together.

had one small vacuum leak, but when I plug it, it only dropped the rpms a few. throttle blade is closed, the set screw is backed off all the way. adjusting the timing doesn't do anything with the rpms either .

Its Jakes car, not mind, just been spending the extra time we both have turning wrenches to get it back on the road, hopefully this summer. Its a 350 or 355 SBC can't remember what machine work was done. HSR intake, patriot heads (i think) 102 mm mono blade TB, MSD ignition other then that not sure what the cam specs are off the top of my head. It runs on all eight, just can't get the heart beat to calm down an idle.

IAC stuck open? Mono blade is completely unnecessary for that engine, might want to try a stock TB if you have one.

So many variables. EGR and AIR delete? Bad MAF or PCM?

Do you have a scanner hooked up when running? Idle RPM and timing will often go to a default with an OBDI scantool plugged in.
