  • [Project] jakes_GSXR 86' Camaro Project

This project started back in July 2011, took the camaro out to Ken to freshen up and do some engine work. He got hit with losing his house and cancer all at once and never gave up on me. Welp here it is a few dream cruise's later and I'm getting closer to a running engine/car so I feel the pressure to get it running again.

Status: we got the tranny and engine is back in, engines been hot tanked, bored, cam and heads are in, and I'm putting the headers and intake on but the headers are butting up too close on the knock sensor. Need some ideas here.

I'm only posting up here because ken has to rest and get through his kemo treatment. He's been helping out as much as possible and still going to set initial valve lash, start up, get this thing to his tuner, and proper break in as to not void his engine work/warranty. Basically he's become the CEO of this operation now since he can't do much physical labor with his treatments, which is ok for me because I like working on it and learning (not like i havent installed exhaust, intake, bolt ons before so we got this!)I don't want ken to feel like I've abandoned him or lost hope, I know you're still doing everything in your power to get this going.

be precise when tightening these things down, over torqueing them can cause all sorts of timing issues

Sounds like we will be moving it to the drivers side this weekend. Hot tanked huh, maybe that shop should double check their tank temp, looks like some grime still on the block there by the flywheel

Could it be from a crap tone of wd40 from sitting so long. Or is it crusty and hard?
He did rush through it becouse of a familly issue. But it was all good other wise. Gotta remeber it did sit all winter and alittle of summer to. But it was some what sealed with plastic.

              Edit:
I looked I seen it I the picture above. Lost I. Space I guess. When you guys put the knock sensor on run your fingure across it and tell me if its over spray from the base clear on top of the wd40. Even though the machine work was a favor to me for $350. I dont like how it looks. But im pretty sure it base clear over the wd40.

Ken and I have both been busy. He has to watch his health closely. His project sounds like its close to done so hopefully that will free up a little time on his end. Mines damn close to firing, need both the 93-97 year male connectors for the throttle body (or wiring harness side, whichever you see it). Wiring and ignition need to be complete and some small details like random bolts ken has for me (throttle body, intake, rocker stud) We are next aiming for the 28th or a time through the week if i have it and he feels up to it.
