    • Maybe look into vette brakes? That's what I did, quite pleased.

      • I may get some shit for this, but I went with "brakemotive" slotteds on mine and I am happy with them. I didn't want drilled and slotted. They come with a bright silver zinc finish. I think I paid $185 or so shipped for them. I did the bedding procedure as they recommended and they've been great. I don't track the car or anything, but I can drive pretty spiritedly and have jammed on them a few times.

For stock sized brakes at that price, I am more than satisfied.

I also agree with the thoughts on the rear...if you can get the car over to a shop, I would just do that. You have quite the list of stuff to do, and it'd be one less thing (yanking the rear out to swap).

I have brakemotive slotted as well, and they have served me well. Made it to gingerman twice, and they held up ok. But I was taking it easy on them, because under hard braking at high rpm my ls1 turned to a fog machine. My dad had the drilled and slotted, and a rotor of his is cracked.. Stay away from cross drilled anything.

          • Yep...cross-drilleds will only get you nice stress cracks.

Blanks, or at the most, slotteds.

            • Werd - I would have preferred blanks, but they didn't have them so I accepted the slotteds. This doesn't show the slots well, most are blocked by the wheel, but you can see the coating on the hat:

              • My cars had the drilled and slotted brake motive rotors since I got it and so far there are no stress cracks. Its had several high speed high breaking runs over and over with no issues.

At this point they are just warn and its time for some new brake pads.

Going to just take it in and have the rear end done at my local rear end shop.

Regarding the steering play in the wheel...pretty much has to be the rack..right?

                • I'd check both connections (rack-to-knuckle and column-to-rack) for play before feeling comfortable it's the rack.
