Similar issue on my car, except I never had an issue of it dying while driving, just would not start sometimes. The bulkhead wiring fitting on the tip of my fuel pump assembly was burned up. Granted I'm using a Walbro 400 pump, which draws a lot of current compared to a 255, but still may be worth looking into.2015 Silverado

for a 98 they are $150 if I stay with the racetronix kit. I think thats what I am going to do. Fairly certain its just a bad pump. I have started it 15 times after the hammer tapping and it starts up every time now. I still don't trust it.Originally posted by s.reef View PostIsnt it just a walbro pump? Arent they under $100

Wanted to keep working on stuff so I got my monsoon system bypassed while creating a wiring mess...but all the speakers work now. Did a oil change with some M1 and a K&N filter. Topped it off with a new window motor on the passenger side. Going to double check for pump connection issues tomorrow and if that doesn't have an obvious issue Ill just order a new pump.

I might have the stock pump out of my old 98 you can have, I'd have to check all my boxes. I also have a racetronix pump with maybe 150 miles on it...pulled it out of my NBM 98 before I sold the car as a roller.
I'll be dropping the engine/trans out of mine tomorrow to install a torque converter and some internal things in the trans, I could always drop the tank then and for sure have another working stock pump.

I ordered a brand new racetronix pump. At this point it was the best option so that I don't have to re pin the harness. Hopefully it shows it this week so I can get it in before the weekend.
Onto my other project, the rear end.
Basically I can have my existing rear end (3.23) fixed with a new posi for $400-500 or I can have a rear end I got from Jon completely redone with new everything including 3.73 gears for $1000. If I go with the new everything he will warranty it as long as I don't put DR's on, which I wouldn't. But if I switch gears I will need my car to be tuned for the gears. I just want the damn thing fixed lol.1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 - 6 Speed

You could also just stay with the 3.42s in jons axle those gears should still be good would save you some money.-Joel

Loved my 3.73s in my LS1 car. I could look into setting you up with one of the guys I used to work with for rear-end work Nate? You supply the parts, won't be warrantied but I would trust their work over anyone else honestly. The better one is located over in Jackson and does it out of his shop at home, bit of a drive for you but pretty cool guy. Other one owns Fountain Automotive in Marshall, just tell him I sent you or I can give him a call if you want, might give me a better price idk. Just gotta let me know what you want
Edit: Also make sure you do your research on gears. From what I remember Motives were almost guaranteed to make noise no matter how well you set up the gear set, GM gears were the best obviously but expensive

Agreed also keep in mind a 3.73 is weaker than a 3.42...4.10 even worse. Pinions get smaller as ratio gets bigger = less gear contact. But in your case i think a 3.73 will be fine, ive beat the snot out of my 3.42 and never had an issue.-Joel

FWIW I recently exploded my rear with 3.73's last year... I would assume similar power levels as you Nate or Joel, I now have 3.42 gear rear but did not drive too many miles on it.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostAgreed also keep in mind a 3.73 is weaker than a 3.42...4.10 even worse.
