      • PM me a price on the trans - and what options it has. No need for the converter as it'll be all wrong for me anyways

Disclosure - I'm probably not going to buy anything until the spring.

Larry if 4l80's were cheap to build and freshen - I'd just get over the tuning issues.

                  I like light switches:

The 4l80e trans brakes are expensive and everyone wants a premium to build the trans themselves. 400's are cheap cause they are so common.

It'll be a long winter - and I'll probably change my mind daily until I bite the bullet and do something.

It's never going to be a "fast" car by internet standards - nor am I going to grudge or class race it. So it might as well be fun to beat on - soon enough I'll be at the 9.99 or 135mph and will need a cage and I don't know if I want to go down that path.

                  • Stock pcm can do a lot - and most of my issues are probably due to the tired trans. But it was having the lead the shifts big time to get them to hit - like 20 some mph, and that's annoying as hell.

Especially when you want to move the shift rpm +/- 500rpm to see if it works better there or not.

                    • Bringing this back up.

I've asked Rich @ Detroit Gearbox and Jeremy @ RPMTransmissions to get me pricing on going through the 4l80. Jake @ Jake's performance want's to sell me his level 3.

I'm still up in the air about going back to a t56 but with the nerve pain in my left side, I think it'd be better if I wasn't kicking a clutch.

Hopefully a fresh 4l80 that doesn't need 20+mph lead on the shift points will knock a few tenths off. Car needs a complete retune with the auto as well.

                      • I think once you get it all ironed out that car is going to run great. It already runs good as it is and is one of my favorites on this site to follow.

                        • You change shift point rpm and mph right? If both aren't close it won't shift

Sadly yes....it just wasn't happy. I know my tuning skills aren't amazing but usually I can get it close. This thing was way off. Oh well it was a $300 trans - hopefully I don't have to put a small fortune in it to make it work.

                            • Here is the rest of what I'm thinking for this year:

                              MWC front/rear bumper supports
                              MWC double drop cross member
Flowmaster merge 3"/4" - exhaust needs some love - it's been on and off so many damn times, might just dump before the axle.
Debating on replacing the valve springs - they've got 3 seasons on them.
