I'm not super smart, so I could be totally wrong but I was afraid that it was the clutch starting to slip at high RPMs. The clutch was rated for 700tq and I made 485hp on 7psi (160hp over it's NA numbers) with no timing, and was running 18psi at the track with some timing sprinkled back in, so it should have been making some steam. The next level up for clutches is $1200, and this Powerglide was $1500. I'm poor, so I'm trying to go fast as cheaply as possible, and a $1200 wear part isn't budget friendly lol.

    • Makes sense. Looking froward to seeing the results of the switch. Guess we are all going to have to wait until spring?

            • Alive from winter hibernation with a new intake. Had to trim the windshield a little to make it fit but totally worth it lol. Probably going to have to get a Optic Armor windshield eventually because this one cracked after sitting in the cold after we cut it.

              • Nice!

Sucks about the windshield, but the Optic Armor will save you some weight to boot.

                • My only concern with a non glass window is scratches. The car still gets driven on the street 99% of the time. I don't have wiper so that should help some. I've heard Optic Armor is pretty resistant to scratches. At $600 I don't mind buying one but don't want to be replacing them often lol

                  • Can you run something similar to a tear-off that they use in Nascar?

                    • Yeeted a little to hard and lost compression on cylinder 1 last week, snagged a LM4 aluminum block locally for $600 and am going to regap the rings and toss it in.

                        • It was a $300 engine that I bought 8 years ago, with nothing done to it but a cam. It served me well lol
