In my experience, POR15 was easy to flake off unless you really go through and do the whole sha-bang with the degreaser and prep. It seemed like the rustoleum or chassis saver or whatever we used on my kframe and spindles were more accepting of just brushing it clean and painting over it. I know willasc had POR15'ed his undercarriage and he too said that if it wasn't painted over real rust that it was flaking off on him too.

good to know, I was already leaning toward the chassis saver as I know the POR-15 seems to dull more quickly as well.

por15 isnt uv safe. if the sun hits it you have to topcoat it

We used a brush on rustoleum on Kolin's car

so por-15 or chassis saver? looking to brush it on while I have the tank and rearend out now is the time just need to run to the store and grab one or the other. Opinions?

Also got a few more parts in the mail and one on order but I think our next big step is getting with Brett and going over the entire fuel system and having them do the lines and fittings for us.

Hands down a gun! will save you so much time and look way better, it's very thick straight outta the can and using a brush will show all the hair marks... I'm sure you're not concerned about the looks a ton and are doing it for prevenative maintenance but a gun will look super smooth and plus you'll save alot of time putting it on and can get into spot a brush cannot. either way wear a mask and some gloves, that stuff is some wicked shiiiit. thin the stuff too when you get it, it won't spray real easy straight outta the can, 2 quarts should be plenty. I did two whole entire cars with a gallon

I have two quarts to do the Impala frame, probably don't have enough thinner at the moment to shoot it right. Anyway, if you do spray, wet down the floor underneath the car!

As much as I would love to spray it on I really just feel that it will make more of a mess and is more prep but having to tape off the rest of the car and make sure I don't get overspray on the car, or the floor, or anything else in the shop. Plus it's not a well ventilated area to begin with. I'm not looking for perfection just looking for some rust protection.

Musta been pricey? how much can a stock fuel system hold. im doing double pumps and injectors but what else do you need?

Were replacing the entire fuel system. -10 Feed, -8 Return, Boost referenced regulator, A1000 pump, 80lb injectors, Nasty billet rails, metal tank with poor mans sump. Only thing we'll ever need to change are injectors and pump when the time comes.

It was pricey but as I said in the other thread if were going to make this junkyard motor work reliably then the fuel system is critical, fortunately we knew this going into it and to be honest I think the pricing for very fair for what we are getting. Its overkill but as Mike mentioned a simple pump and injector change down the road should be all we will ever need.

As for the stock fuel system (really the fuel lines and rails are the limiting factors as you can use any combination of pumps) I have seen guys push them up to 700rwhp or so. Twin walbros and a set of 60# injectors can really take you past that power level on 93 octane and meth.

You guys are building a "racecar". i should be fine for the street, right? i dont want to put a cage in it. if i can get 600+ reliable rwhp im happy
