• Ah - the day I94 at 16 Mile was closed he said he saw me when I was turning onto Union Lake Rd or whatever it is that cuts through to 16 mile rd so I figured he had to be at one or the other.

                  • Nice. Also, sorry about not getting you those A-pillars yet. They're sitting in my apartment, I just haven't had a chance to head out that way. I have both A-pillars and one of the rear pieces.

                          • Ok well now is as good of a time as any other... First I'd like to start off saying the following:

Hi, my name is Kolin and I have a problem... I'm addicted to posting project progress and creating more work for myself. Without any real progress to post I'm relapsing into developing near future plans...

So for those of you who are still checking this thread here is a sneak peak as to what I'm planning... Consider this to be my official plan for "Phase II" of this project

                            1) If you were wondering why the hell I left the factory 10 bolt in I hope these next pictures help to shed some light on that issue.

                            IRS Dana 44.jpg

                            IRS 4th Gen.jpg

Yup, having this car setup for road racing more than drag racing was one of my project's main focus (hence the drysump oiling system - not just for looks unlike some peoples components ...cough Brent OVRKILL cough.... ) so I will be doing my homework on doing a IRS swap into ye ol maro. Should be a fun challenge... Also on a suspension-ish note I need to address my bump steer issues I'm having due to the tie-rod ends. I plan on eliminating the tie-rod ends I have on now and replace them with ball joints, should make a world of difference.

                            2) As with any road race vehicle, stopping is kinda important and even though my stock brakes are nice and pretty with powder coat now, they still couldn't stop a damn pinewood derby car... But in order to install bigger brakes I need some bigger wheels so the TTIIs are going up for sale (make an offer now via pm if you happen to be interested). In my eyes this sucks, I love these wheels and how they look on my car, I've wanted them for the longest time but there are sacrifices to be made I supposed.

Here is a pic of the wheels ('09 Z06 Spyder Replicas) I'm leaning toward getting (in black of course) and for brakes (also in the pic) I think I'll try out the CTS-V brake swap for starters rather than drop serious loot on some baers or stoptech kits, they are Brembo calipers after all but as I look into this more I guess these guys are getting harder to find at a good price . Tires are up in the air right now. I need something that sticks obviously but also something that has a stronger side wall. Current thoughts are Nitto NT01s but would like to get more info from a tire guru.

                            NT01.jpg

                            3) The old girl is definitely due for a face lift after having the heart restored so aero and appearance will also be a major focus moving on. My recent thoughts have been geared toward the Dick Harrell widebody kit but I would also like to find some more info on the available splitters and side skirts for our cars and if they even have any functionality. If anyone has or knows where to find any kind of wind tunnel data and can pass it on to me I would greatly appreciate it. Here is another pic for reference purposes for the widebody kit (minus the orange stripes).

                            DH Camaro.jpg

                            4) Safety is always a must and its going to be including an interior overhaul in the process. This is still a gray area for me. I'm not sure what exactly I'm going to do for seats but I do know support is a must along with a 5pt harness and harness bar. Another must is getting rid of this horrible steering wheel and steering column. It's heavy, clunky and junky and currently the damn tilt wheel adjustment is loose resulting in way too much play in the steering wheel for my liking. The rear seats are also going the way of my old LS1. Ideally I would like to make some sort of additional storage container/space for safety equipment and other things but we will see how far I get with that. Hopefully my good buddy Nick GOR1LA makes some good headway with his interior project so I can steal some of his ideas as far as sprucing/updating things a bit more. One thing I currently have in the works right now is acquiring some better gauges to pay attention to the engine vitals. I'll be damned if I hurt this engine just because I didn't want to pony up the investment cash to monitor things accurately. Anyway to make things more interesting for those who read only by pictures here are some ideas.

                            cobra_misano_anniversary.jpg

Well aside from the "Phase II" plans, I'm currently (slowly) working on putting together a video of the project. The video will have the long overdue engine dyno video and data finally so hopefully it turns out nice.

And that's it for now, I think I successfully filled my need to provide an update. Now I'll sit back and wait for Brent to make his smart ass remarks .
