Thanks, havent done much with the car, not sure what direction I am going with it... So it sits in the garage as of now being driven once in a while (actually BigJon drove it tonight, first time hes ever driven a thirdgen and first time in a LONG time since hes driven a stick). Then of course I get pulled over in it for the first time as I am going homeOriginally posted by TylerT/AZ28 View Postmy dads close to you so im willing to help if need be darren. ill have my new project underway soon too
Still debating what to do with it this winter...sigpic

Hey Darren, Can't believe I missed your post. Are you planning on painting this winter? Keep in mind that removing the heater also means no defoggers. That may be something that you may want to keep. I know that I have been caught in the rain a couple times with mine, and not having wipers is no big deal, but without defoggers sucks. Let me know if you need a hand. Looks like a nice project.

You're planning on getting rid of the heat all together? That doesn't make sense to me. Having heat adds a solid 3 months of comfortable driving to the season.2015 Silverado

Thanks Tony! I would like to start the body work and paint this winter that is my original plans. However I am in the process of looking for someone to paint it. Toying with the idea of doing it myself in my garage. The heater is already bypassed by the previous owner, the heater core was leaking I guess. So I have been driving it without heat now for the last month or so. I think when I start ripping the AC out I will just replace the heater core and get the firewall box for heat only. I actually got stuck in the rain once already, T-Tops off too, Whoops.Originally posted by TB2 View PostHey Darren, Can't believe I missed your post. Are you planning on painting this winter? What 3 months are you talking about? Its October 5th and my car is out in my works parking lot right now T-Tops off. I still drive it, the only reason I would keep heat is for what Tony mentioned and thats the defogger. The heat is already bypassed all together in the car (as stated above because of the heater core). But I am removing the AC as soon as I can get started on it.Originally posted by Boost Addict View PostYou're planning on getting rid of the heat all together? That doesn't make sense to me. Maybe the climate was significantly different in your part of the state but up until about the middle of May the weather was still pretty crisp out. Snow stops around the middle of March, but it's still cold. I guess if you don't mind driving around with a winter jacket on then it doesn't effect you. However when it drops below 50 I loved being able to still drive my car comfortably with my heat turned on.2015 Silverado

Progress!
After a short night out on Woodward Jon and I decided to put the car in the garage and do some work!

No more AC!

So much more room
photo 3.JPG
Found the header leak... Last three header bolts on the passenger side where only hand tight and the last one came out without using a wrench...

And thank God for air tools... (and thanks to Jon for my new toy...)

Yes I know the car is dirty, wont be like that for long. Going to see if I can get the exhaust disconnected tomorrow, and then get a cherry picker over my house and the engine just might come out tomorrow before dark, we'll see.sigpic
