Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Nope. Stock heads, NO porting. Never been off the motor. Take a look at the stock internal list on LS1tech. Plenty of 98's on there. In reality they only flow a few CFM less than the later model 853 and 241 castings.
My bolt on car trapped 113 and went 12.19 and its nothing special at all.

the only ls with factory heads untouch that i have ever seen run that kinda time is one running spray. now im the 1st to say i dont know everything but i have built alot of ls1's and never seen them do that.
either way he is getting her together and making some progress and should deffenatly be pushing along pretty hard this time next year.
i know a couple of those guys from the forum. you should see the list of bolt-ons on there car. electric water pumps/ rocker ratio's/intakes/injectors/ect... but your right there fast on stock internals. but some are hardly what i would consider bolt ons.
Gotta remember most of the stock internal/cam only cars are tin cans - but a full weight car in theory should run within 4-5 mph of them.
You and I were both knocking at the door of 11's. I would hardly say are cars are tin cans. To run at the front of that list I will agree you need a racecar.

I should have gotten the 11.9x out of it before the heads and cam but I was tired of the 12.001's pass after pass.
. just like all forums there 1000 so called engine tech that have there point of view.
Ken - don't know who that's pointed at? There are also a lot of intelligent people that build/tune/race their cars that don't mind helping others out. That's the whole point of sites like these. Share info and help friends out.
Allan good luck with the car - there have been quite a few good suggestion in this thread, and they should help you out.

that wasn't pointed at anyone in general. i have sat here and watched many people give both good and bad advice, and not just this site this includes the high and mighty ls1tech.com to. Iv been doing this to long. iv been to school for build race cars. and yet i know that i can be wrong to. the thing you guys need to remeber is there are all kinds of vairiances in these cars you talk about. im not speaking of cars iv heard of. im speaking of cars iv built or have worked on. theres no way a cam and intake swap car will hit 10's without alittle help. (gearing/weight reduction/nitrouse/ect..) here's where it gets screwy. you posted a link of so called bolt-on/stock internal cars. alot of them cars have head swaps/custom cams/rear gears/weight reduction. and becouse they can be bolted on they consider them a bolt on.
iv been in the racing sceen since i was 12. my version of a bolt on car is simple bolt ons. headers/throttle body spacers/underdrive pullys/intake/cold air/exhaust. you know something easily done in just a hours time. a cam swap is hardly a bolt on, or stock internal. but many people on all differant types of forums believe this to be so.
trust me i have alot of respect for those on this forum, Iv seen more talent on this forum than ls1 tech, and alot more people that want to help than on ls1tech. thats why i hardly log on there and lurk here. but like all forums theres those that try to hard to help and try to give advice that there not sure of or have seen them selves and it can deffenatly throw people off when there trying to learn.
To give you an example.
guy on ls1 board tryd giving some advice he had seen off a article somewhere. had to do with a head and cam swap. guy questioning wanted to swap to some ls3 heads/intake/cam. this guy that was trying to help jumped on and said your good go for it everything will work fine. the guy did the swap started the car it ran for about .30 to 45 secounds then would start again it had hardly any compression. he had bent almost all his valves becouse no one had told him that the ls3's have much larger valves than ls1's and that his new cam with a .600 lift would surely cause the valve to smack the pistons. the guy was out some good money and it was just becouse some jumped on that was trying to help but did have his facts straight. and there entitled to there own beliefs.
i have never seen this happen here on this sight and i honestly couldnt see it ever happen becouse of the communtiy of good people that are whilling to job on a thread and hash it out to the facts are seen. thats why im a sponsor here and no where else. its cool that you and others a passionat enough to jump on a thread and help out. ii take my hat off to you for that. i can see high 11's with a mild engine such as allans but he is running bear minimum and upgradeing as he gos. i will side on this with you thow, after i seen the intake he has there is no reason why that car shouldn't be tuned to run 6400rpm shifts except for his valve train. and he will get it done when he swaps heads im sure. then he can safly and durably shift at 6400 rpms.

Bolts ons/stock internal. That means noting that touches oil has been replaced. The longblock sans LS6 intake is as it came from GM.
Full exhaust, LS6 intake, P&P TB, Lid, UDP, Converter. Car was full weight - spare.
I also am unsubscribing from this thread.
wow really guys, i wasnt rude in what i posted i just stated the truth, and try'd being as respectful as possible. sorry if you took it as a direct slam but it wasnt intended as a slam to anyone in general. i try to stay pretty nuetral for the most part on here. but to each there own i guess.
Ken those lists posted are truly bolt on only cars, that means no cams, head swaps, valvetrain ect. Most of those cars are very light and some even have 400s but no internal mods to the motors at all. My car with an old set of heads and scam went 10s driving it to the track and at 3680lbs the LSx platform is more capable than your giving it credit for IMO.
